Semper Fi and all that

God Speed and Good Hunting to those deployed
Have your musket clean as a whistle, hatchet scoured, 60 rounds powder and ball and be ready to march at a minute's warning.

Didn't the Marines originate and come to be, in a tavern?

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank GOD for the United States Marine Corps."
Eleanor Roosevelt, 1945

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

    From the Halls of Montezuma,
    To the shores of Tripoli;
    We fight our country's battles
    In the air, on land, and sea;
    First to fight for right and freedom
    And to keep our honor clean;
    We are proud to claim the title
    Of United States Marine.

    Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
    From dawn to setting sun;
    We have fought in every clime and place
    Where we could take a gun;
    In the snow of far-off Northern lands
    And in sunny tropic scenes;
    You will find us always on the job
    The United States Marines.

    Here's health to you and to our Corps
    Which we are proud to serve;
    In many a strife we've fought for life
    And never lost our nerve;
    If the Army and the Navy
    Ever look on Heaven’s scenes;
    They will find the streets are guarded
    By United States Marines.

Only seems right to celebrate, with Tom's favorite scene.... ::)

That movie is twenty something years ago.  How come the Gunny doesn't seem to get any older?

I'm pretty sure the Gunny ages time.

Went to my little brothers JROTC celebration for the USMC's birthday today.  Good kids, all of them.

Hey Tim, Extra points if you know who wrote the "Marines Hymn".

Ever notice people join the Army, Navy, or Air Force, but you have to become a Marine.  ;D
