It would seem so, although as a bear of relatively little brain, I'd like to hear more informed opinions.

It's an AOW because the barrel is under 18".
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Letter to Alexander Hamilton, Friday, May 02, 1783

Does this mean the SERBU Super Shorty is available?

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

In case of the SERBU, I think it might not be AOW because it can be concealed easily. Not sure though....

I'm pretty sure the serbu is a AOW as its both a short barreled shot gun and it is also bellow the min OAL lenght.

MB owns one ask him.

I've got one as well, it is classified as AOW and I would guess that is due to the O.A.L. being below the minimum length which I think is 26". No big deal to get though, just a $5 stamp.

doesn't it also have a vertical front grip? ( swing down slide dealie)  that is also something you need a AOW stamp when its on a pistol.

That's correct from my understanding as well. If you put a VFG on a pistol it makes it a AOW.

Side question on this issue:
A friend has a single shot shotgun that had the barrel damaged and in order to cut it and recrown it, would put it just under 18". Replacement barrels are not produced and he has searched the net and gun shows, but to no avail.
Now, on to the rat killin', could he apply for an AOW stamp and then have the barrel cut down?

I've looked into some things, but had not thought of the AOW category.....thanks.
