FQ's single serve coffee maker may be the only acceptable way to make hazelnut creaming Irish faggy froo-froo French weenie rainbow-flagged coffee.  But both the machine and the individual serving-cups are too expensive for what you get.  And, in my admittedly limited experience with these devices, even the un-sullied pure coffee versions available as single-serve are not as good as I can brew at home in my $15 Black and Decker Power Pot with some freshly ground beans.

AND, since the awful, perfumed residual aroma of those nasty flavored brews tends to stick around in both pot and cup even after diligent washing...  I'd say let's look for the proper tree and a length of strong rope.

Offered by Crusader, a proud traditionalist when it comes to coffee.

Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle

Fresh ground beans lose flavor after 12 hours.

Fresh roasted beans lose flavor after about a week.

I roast green coffee beans to the "darkness" I prefer for that particular bean.  I roast enough for about a week and grind what I will use each day that morning.

The characteristics of green beans will change after maybe two years.  They don't go bad or acquire a poor flavor, just a different flavor.

So, to me, possession of flavored or decaf (Medical Exemption accepted) coffee in any form with the intent to brew is a capital offense.  Evening thinking about it is getting borderline...but it's a free country....what can you do?

If you want your coffee flavored, pour something in it after it is brewed...like Bailey's or Bushmills.

Trying to get the Tom award for Miss Congeniality? ;D I wil have you know that only "Irish faggy coffee" I've ever imbibed has been laden with Baileys and Bushmills and served by a gay bartender. ;D As to the single serving thing, it has three advantages.
No Mess
A fresh cup every time
And if there's more than one person? Brew what you want. No arguments or compromises over what roast, or caffinated versus decaf etc.
As far as taste, yeah I can do better if I spend $15 a pound from Peets. But as far as what I can buy locally? Its just as good. It comes to about $.30 per cup if I buy in bulk. I won't complain at that price since it hasn't been sitting on the burner for an hour.

You can get "My Cups" for Krupps style single shots.  They are used in place of the K-cups and can be filled with the fresh ground coffee of your choice.  Not as good as a french press or vacuum brewer, but quick (after you have loaded the days worth of cartridges) and tolerable.  They are plastic and the tabs that hold the lids on can break off, so they are not the ideal solution.

This is what you get at my house. REALLY good coffee flavored coffee. Although I will add that this stuff is like crack in a bean. Pour in a little Irish Cream (the alcoholic kind) and whoa baby! You can get smashed and still be vibrating.  ;D
