If you're talking about the Sharps Borchardt Model 1878 Military 45-70 Rifle with Scarce J.P. Lower, Denver Col. Retailer Markin, then it only went for $1,100.  A bit of a disappointment

HOWEVER, if you're talking about  Cased Model 1902 Georg Luger DWM Semi-Automatic Carbine with Gold Inlay.  Well that went for $100,000.

Okay the third, literally, Prototype #3, of the Singer 1911A1 went for only $30,000.

And this could have been yours (no box and no instruction manual) for a mere:

$210,000 US  (plus 15% bidders fee if you pay cash)

So I wonder if my C&R qualifies?   Can I pick it up in person?

HA!   I wish.

A small auction but seems like plenty of variety, is Cowan's auction today and tomorrow in Cincinatti.  (Sorry for the late notice.)

I'm primarily looking at revolvers and they have over 200 for the 2 days.   Then there's 1,000+ other rifles, semi-autos, shotguns and stuff.   Looks like a very good spread from flint and wheel lock, to percussion and modern.

Re: May 23 and 25 - Little John Auctions

4 Auctions over two days by Little John Auctions in Orange, CA.

Lots of 19th century stuff, especially revolvers.   This auction is from several "collectors".   I counted about 400 revolvers and very few are post 1900, and of those, few are double action.   Lots of Colts, as well as other brands that have long since left the business.   Bill Decker's Colt SAA is up for auction.  He was instrumental in bringing down Bonnie and Clyde and was still Sheriff of Dallas County, and riding in the lead car of the motorcade when JFK was shot.   Also up for auction is a Colt SAA from Texas Ranger Jeff Milton.

Direct to Little John's web site

Or through ProxiBid

Just a friendly reminder that the Little John auctions (above) start tomorrow.

I had my eye on a couple of Colt SAA's that hadn't garnered any bids.   Well, up until this weekend.  Now interest is picking up, so I won't be bidding on them.   Didn't think I could get one on the cheap anyway.

There's lots of turn of the century (~1900) stuff on this auction.

Little John auction is in the book.

Those Colt SAA's that no one seemed interested in, early on?   One went for $7,500 and the other for an even ten grand !!!

I guess I won't be putting an authentic SAA in my safe any time soon ... or later for that matter.

Re: June 2012 Auction - RIA Regional

NEXT UP:

The big regional Rock Island Armory auction.   Only about 6,000 guns.
http://www.rockislandauction.com/search/aid/1019

I counted over 150 Winchester Lever Actions, most (at least many) pre-1900.  WAIT WAIT.  That's 150 "lots".  Some lot contain multiple guns.

Over 380 lots of "Colt Revolvers".   648 lots with the word "shotgun".  And over 90 lots of "1911".

Personally, if I were a 1911 addict I might go for this pair.

A Union Switch and an Ithaca.  Neither "original" though both C&R, but still something really fine to pull out at the range.

Me, I've got my sights on the S&W 627, but I may buy one of GB before July rolls around.

Remember you can go through Proxibid or direct to RIA.

Local Auctions - Check List on ProxiBid
« Reply #57 on: May 25, 2012, 07:15:00 AM »
One great use of Proxibid isn't with "on-line" bidding, but just as a listing service for local auctions.  This is a list of all their associated firearm auctions.

https://www.proxibid.com/asp/firearm-auctions.asp

If you periodically check their web site you might find auctions in your community that you can attend in-person. Here's a list of locations of firearm related auctions over just the next week.

Virginia Beach,  VA
Frederick,  MD
Wirtz,  VA
Virginia Beach,  VA
Princeton,  IL
Union,  IL
Westfield,  PA
Milwaukie,  OR
Collins,  MO
Portland,  OR

You can use Proxibid to search the catalog of each auction to see if there's anything for which it would be worth attending.

Good luck and have fun.

Whew.  Good.   I was beginning to think no one ever cared about these auctions.   I'm so glad someone else is infected .. uh,  addicted ..  uh, interested.
