Still,  can you imagine the uniform he would have desisigned for future Presidents? I'm not knocking George, but c'mon, the man was never known for subtley or "understated elegance" when it came to wardrobes.

Too bad Patton, his tactics, and his Division's aren't around anymore.... Sherman's tactics would have worked well in Afghanistan also.

Yeah, but you always did have to wonder about George. Granted, he was mean as hell. Still, a shiny steel helmet and ivory gripped pistols? Not to mention jodpurs and carrying around a riding crop when there was no horse to be seen? We won't even talk about the sash.

my stepfather flew bombers in Northern Africa during WWII and said that most English officers carried a riding crop. why? to beat the shoe shine boys with of course! if they asked to shine your shoes and you told them no, the little stinkers would swipe the officers pantleg with some shoe polish. (doesn't look good on khaki) riding crop usually kept them from misbehaving.  Apparently Cairo was the worst. I can believe that, have any of you done a 'deal' with an Egyptian? even if they GIVE you something, they are still ripping you off somehow.
