I just read on CNN (via Drudge) the shooter's gun was a MACHINE Glock 19 with a 300 round (G18) magazine.

There.  Fixed it for you.  (per left-wing media dictates)  I believe we will soon discover it had a laser guided GPS homing device.  /sarc off

May God bless the congresscritter.  No one deserves to be taken out by a nut case.  Condolences to the families of those killed, and prayers for recovery for those wounded.

“I’ve lived the literal meaning of the ‘land of the free’ and ‘home of the brave.’ It’s not corny for me. I feel it in my heart. I feel it in my chest. Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle

that video of the Serif that I posted earlier   is being quoted all over the place here

they are blaming US politics over this  ::)   not the fact that there was a nutter out there ( that apparently  according to his friends had mental problems as well.He was known to Police and had a charge sheet as well and was rejected by the military for service)

US politics was left to hang its head in shame yesterday after months of ugly rhetoric culminated in a massacre at a political rally in Tucson, Arizona.

Six people were killed and a dozen wounded after gunman Jared Lee Loughner walked up to Democrat Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and shot her in the head before turning the weapon on supporters who had come to meet her.

Local sheriff Clarence Dupnik was quick to link the attack to the "vitriolic rhetoric" that became rife during the mid-term elections and Americans are questioning whether divisive politics had pushed the suspect over the edge.

During the campaign, Republican Sarah Palin put a target map online with Ms Giffords' district under the crosshairs of a gun. Yesterday, the gunman walked up to Ms Giffords, pointed the 9mm glock semi-automatic pistol at her head and pulled the trigger.
The bullet went through her brain, entering her temple and exiting through her forehead.

Within seconds, six other people were dead, including a nine-year-old girl and Arizona's chief federal judge, and another 12 were wounded. Witnesses said it was so quick, there was barely time for people to scream before they fell.

Nearby restaurant owner Tony Martinez described the shooting, as "like a string of fireworks". "It happened so fast. Then it was silent but it was still chaos as there were bodies everywhere," he said.

Loughner, was preparing to reload his pistol when two onlookers tackled him.

Doctor Peter Rhee said he was optimistic that Ms Giffords would survive and she was responding to commands from doctors last night.

"She is in critical condition and I can tell you at the current time period I am very optimistic about recovery," he said.

Loughner's motivation remains unknown, but local sheriff Clarence Dupnik described him as a mentally unstable young man who possibly acted with an accomplice.

The apparent assassination attempt has left the US in shock, sparking renewed debate about the safety of politicians and the country's contentious gun laws. Sheriff Dupnik blamed the "vitriol that has permeated the political scene and left elected officials facing constant threats".

"I think it's time as a county that we do a little soul searching because I think it's the vitriolic rhetoric that we hear day in and day out, from people in the radio business, and some people in the TV business, that this has not become the nice United States of America that most of us grew up in."

US President Barack Obama said the shooting was an "unspeakable act".

"This is more than a tragedy for those involved it is a tragedy for Arizona a tragedy for our entire country," he said.

"Such a senseless and terrible act of violence has no place in a free society," he said.

Others killed in the shooting spree included US District Judge John Roll, who had stopped by the event to say hello to Ms Giffords, and her director of community outreach Gabe Zimmerman.

Nine-year-old Christina Greene died at the hospital.

Ms Giffords, a one-time Republican, became a Democrat in 2000 and won election to the Arizona House, where she served one term.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

The more I read and listen to commentaries on this event, the more I realize we can no longer say "it's Bush's fault."  As of yesterday it is "all Palin's fault."  >:(

Just so all the snoops on here know, last night I moved all my black handguns and rifles into a vault and locked it so they won't wander away and hurt anyone.  Damn, I never knew how dangerous these tools could be just hanging around.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

A friend sent this to me in an email. It may be a hoax, but if it is real, it certainly is strange:

Okay.... This is strange. Rep Giffords has a youtube account that she has posted several videos to in the past couple of years. She has over 200 subscribers to her page. The page lists the people she has subscribed to. That would be only two people. One is Rep. Ike Skelton and the other is to the lunatic that shot her and all the other people. I don't believe in coincidences.

Gifford's Youtube profile page:

These links are to the only two chanels that she subscribed to, according to her page:

Like I said, could be set up...could be real....maybe more investigation will bear things out.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Anyone who has ever watched an episode of Beck, cannot possibly ascertain a vitriolic violent undertone. (Oh,...except the grass eating, anti's),....

and so it goes, the disarmed "rest of the civilized world" can stand on a high horse, and call America a bunch of gun totin nuts, and the Krugman's, Brady folks can shout "See, See,....told ya so,...."

To blame Palin, Beck, whoever, is vile. Please email the editors of these liberal rags, and "respectfully" tell them they are filth in today's world for blaming anyone else than the tin-foil wacko that committed this shooting.

Remember what Auntie Hillary Said, with anger and venom?

The double standard hypocrisy has to stop....
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

The surprising thing is that more politicians are not being killed .
We are in a civil war, we have been since the communist inspired and backed anti war movement of the 60's.
and America is losing.

Boy it's really going to hit the fan on this one, our only hope is the new congress! Next week is the time to start making phone calls, I have them on speed dial on my cell and will be sure to talk with them.

The good news, such as it is, is that the outrage seems focused on political rhetoric, not guns. Granted, the antis will trot out new bills, but they will go nowhere. Let people engage in navel gazing about rhetoric. Hell, I think its useful (I have been quoted a time or two here urging folks to calm down a bit). I don't blame Limbaugh or Palin for this whack job any more than I bame environmentalists for the Unabomber or Earth First. Nut jobs are nut jobs. Still, when the NYT and other publications are calling for a "return to civility" rather than "ban all guns Aussie style", I consider it a good thing. The Tea Party and Sarah will get some undeserved knocks. They'll get over it. Its a hell of a lot better than a new AWB.
