Don't sweat it Joe. Abortion is a tough issue and its one that people feel strongly about on both sides. I've been very active in the past on the pro-choice side. One thing I learned is never to judge someone on their opnions on this issue as both sides are following their concience and just coming to different conclusions. I've also learned that its rare that you're going to convert someone. Therefore the best approach is to work toghther on common ground, such as those you mentioned, as well as things like better sex-ed, improving the adoption/foster sytem and trying to make it easier for folks to report rape. Once the common ground is exhausted, we should simply try to be civil, make our best case, and let the citizens and courts decide and accept the results.
Peace.

Dare I bring up Euthenasia?  :o
Terminations are a fact of life and happen for all sorts of intentions, good, bad, naive, etc.
Outlawing a procedure does not work, just like banning guns doesnt work, prohibition didnt work.
If a woman and dare I say it a child is going to have it performed its best for all concerned to be done in a safe, sterile enviroment by doctors who know what they are doing and not the back yard hack that was mentioned in the first post.

The part about the debate that really makes me giggle is that the people who support it are usually the anti death penalty, all life is precious socialists who are supporting Nazi style eugenics. The whole purpose of "Planned Parenthood" was to prevent poor blacks from out breeding productive whites.
On the other side of the fight you have the otherwise pro personal liberty religious groups.
If these people were sincere in their beliefs and thought things through logically instead of on emotion and BS the sides would be reversed.  ;D

That's it!  We need to, no WE HAVE TO-for the sake of the children, impose immediate waiting periods and background checks on any purchase of SCISSORS.

We also need to start profiling medical professionals and wannabe's, in fact we ought to make them go through metal detectors on entry of any public place.  After all more doctors kill by mistake than guns do on purpose EVERY YEAR!

Just being absurd to illustrate the absurdity,
