Gun permit revoked over blog post!
« on: January 19, 2011, 09:33:32 PM »
I got this of of Drudge. A man wrote "1 down 534 to go" after the Tuscon shoting. He also suggested just tageting pols, not civilians. Next thing, the cops are at his door taking his guns. >:( WTF? Granted this is outside of Boston, but still, WTF? Be afraid Tom, they are coming for you next. :o

I don't agree or condone what he said, but the greater evil here is the government reaction to his post.

Ageed. Its not like there was a threat or apparently  any history of threatening behavior. He wasn't a member of any fringe group. The statement was in poor taste, but perfectly legal. He wsn't even held for questioning much less charged. But boom, rights and property removed. This is beyond unacceptable.

He hasn't been arrested and doesn't face any charges, so why did they confiscate his guns?
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Because, as of this writing, it's allowed by law in Massachusetts.  They can revoke your LTC on a whim.

If the people of Massachusetts want change, they have to vote for it or take the case to the Supreme Judicial Court of MA, where they WILL lose and then press the SCOTUS to hear the case.

Their firearms laws are a clear as mud.

Illinois is much the same way. In order to OWN a firearm you must first be in possession of a current, valid, Illinois FOID Card, (Firearm Owners Identification Card). You must apply to the state to get this, and it is totally up to them to issue it. If you let it expire, you are then in illegal possession of a firearm (s), and they can, and have confiscated them based on that alone. It simply gives them a reason to do what they want to do in the first place by skirting around the Second Amendment. The law is still firmly in place in spite of the Brady Law. They put you through a criminal background check before they issue one. Brady does the same everytime you buy a gun. Illinois has no carry law. So with Brady in place there is no need for a FOID Card. No matter, it's still there.

Since this whole Tuscon thing, and all of the political accusations and repercussions from it, politicians and law enforcement are getting paranoid. If you make any kind of statement that they think is threatening, there are going to be consequences, be they legal or not. They are playing off of fear, rhetoric, and everything else. The more liberal the state, the worse this will get. Look at New Orleans under Blanco and Nagan after Katrina. Same deal. Yeah, there were consequences afterward. But then it's too late. Your guns are gone. And if you get them back they'll be damaged and Electro Penciled up with markings everywhere, and there won't be a thing you can do about it.

While it is this guys right to say whatever he wants, it was stupid at this point in time for him to do so publicly. Now as a result his guns are gone, he's out big money, and he's got a mess on his hands that will more than likely cost him still more money to get straightened out. All for what? Testing the waters of his Constitutional rights. Kind of pointless. People are getting crazier by the day.  Bill T.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Did any of you read his blog that day?
Did any of you reads his wit and wisdom to people who commented on his blog?

Tam had linked to it on Sunday but the website is blocked now.

Personally I would not walk a cross the street to piss on him if he was on fire.

Either he is so brillant that his humor is lost on me or he may just be nuttier than the shooter in AZ. If he was just trying to get a rise of The Man, he got his wsh.

I put his in the same catagory as defending a Klan rally.  It might be the right thing to do but I feel like taking a shower just thinking about it.

You have me there, I just went off the news story, figuring CBS Boston would spin it as negatively as possible. If there is more to the story I will stand corrected.

FQ13,

I wish they had left up the website but Live Journal appears to have taken away his soap box.

While I dislike doeing it I'll paraphrase what I saw.

Death to Tyrants
She voted for Obamacare
Obamacare is Tyranny
Death to tyrants

Anyone who voted for Obamacare is a tyrant
Freeman should kill tyrants

Any law I do not like is tyranny.
All government is tyranny.
Death to tyrants. When you shoot them don't hit other folks.

Anyone who disagrees with me is a stupid lapdog or a tool of tyrants.

Call the police you tyrants there is nothing they can do to me.
If you want a piece of me here I am.

If it was suppose to be some Andy Kaufman like skit the punchline never showed up.
