FQ, there is still a certain usefulness to showing up on their door step in dress uniform and saying " Here's Ahmed's head. Sorry about the mess, We'll try not to do that any more."
Gives the relatives a WTF moment.   ;D

Better still, show up and say.    "We are sorry we lost Ahmed's head.  We will try to keep better track of them in the future."

I've heard it said that a motto or SOP for the Texas Rangers was something like...   One Problem, Send one Ranger.

I think that even the Texas Rangers might send two if the problem involved a Gurkha.

Its "One riot, one ranger". The motto comes from when a town reported a riot by telegraph and wanted help, They were informed that help was on the way. Train pulls up and a boxcar opens to reveal a Texas Ranger leading his horse. The Officials asked,"Where are the rest of you"? To which the ranger replied "Well, y'all only got one riot right"? ;D

Seems to me that the operative word in the story was "retired."  And this just lends further credance to the statement:  Don't mess with old farts.

Since their inception the"Gurkha rifles" have been revered as the fiercest fighting men in the world. There was a documentary on TV about them, very interesting.

Seems the longstanding animosity between Gurkhas and Afghani scumbags, runs historically deep.

Observation....

It seems when encountering a barbaric, tribal bunch of savages, that hold NO ONE'S life,..., civilians, women, children, press, wounded, in any regard:

The Gurkhas, fight them in the only manner they actually fear and respect. Fight fire with fire. No hold's barred, we're coming to slay you MF'ers and kill ALL of you.

Pray we kill you quickly.

Gee, somehow OUR Rules Of Engagement, as well as our coalition, is a kinder gentler fighter. I wonder if the Gurkha divisions have Don't ask, don't tell.

Damn sad.

Pershing, Sherman, Grant, and Patton are flipping our policies the bird right now. :'(

I imagine they do....and that said rule tends to involve entire enemy camps "disappearing".....  ;)
