I'm sorry, but this was just plain stupid. This "Women in the workplace" idealism has gone off the rails. This woman had absolutely zero business being alone with an inmate the likes of this guy. What the hell did they think would happen? This kind of foolish nonsense is going to continue to get women killed in this country as long as we continue to bow to the wants of the few who wish they were born with dicks. If she wanted to work for the Dept. Of Corrections fine, why in such a dangerous capacity where she would have no chance if something went wrong? It did and she obviously didn't.

It's much the same with these women cop chicks. Patrolling Beverly Hills along Rodeo Drive in broad daylight is one thing, but in the bowels of Detroit's crack district at 1:00 AM is another. But we put them out there so they can, "be just like men." It's all for show, and as Clint Eastwood put it so eloquently in the movie "The Enforcer", "Being Stylish".

 You literally have hundreds of positions avaliable in law enforcement where women could successfully serve without being put in harms way. They do not need to be "where the action is". It's the same in the military, except for the fact we've gotten away with it longer because we haven't been in a real blood and guts, "win at any cost" war since World War II. How would they have fared hitting the beach at Normandy or Guadalcanal? There needs to be a better reason for this besides "They can do the job as well as a man". This woman obviously couldn't, and now she's dead because of it. Stupid.   Bill T.

Good point. If you look at most all of these positions for women, especially in law enforcement and many public service jobs like the Fire Department, the standards, especially the physical ones, have all been lowered to allow for the addition of women. The military has done much the same. What if we did the same for doctors and allowed lower standards for the more "mentally challenged" ones?

This is not so far fetched. It has nothing to do with sex, but here in Arizona some of the kids were graduating so dumb they required them to take a standardized test, (A.I.M.S.), and pass it in order to graduate. You guessed it, the parents of many of the minority kids who couldn't pass it sued the State claiming "discrimination". For what trying to make a dumb kid smart? This is nothing more than political correctness run amok, with an added dose of "racism" thrown in for good measure. The difference here is now a woman is dead because of it, which is a higher price to pay than trying to struggle through life dumber than a box of rocks. Where the hell is Gloria Allred when she's really needed? Most likely getting her twisted panties wadded up in a N.O.W. meeting.   Bill T.

The problem I have with the womens lib thing is that a lot of women want it both ways. They want to be treated equal when it benefits them i.e. wages, promotions, but still treated like a "lady".

There was an 'upwardly mobile' female chief that actually stated: "We don't fight fires with brawn anymore, we use our brains."
Nobody within earshot called her on this bullshit, and from her point of view it was probably true. She hadn't picked up anything heavier than a clipboard and a pencil for years.
(Being a cute blond can get you places in a male dominated field....go figure)
 
Too bad that HEAVY hoses and equipment don't move unless some grunt picks them up...no matter how friggin smart the grunt is.

Back when I lived in Lake Havasu City, my shop superintendent was also on the Fire Dept. He told me when they were forced to allow women on to the department, one of the physical tests they had to modify, (or else no female could ever hope to pass it), was a test they had to perform that consisted of running with a 100' length of filled 4" hose. He said the first 50 feet was relatively easy. Then after you got out 65' to 75' it was so hard to pull, the men were instructed to actually turn around 180 degrees and pull the hose backwards the remaining distance. It was easier that way to lean back and maintain your balance and get enough traction. Several men did not make it in the required time limit.

When the women came marching in, they had to drain all of the water out of the hose! My boss questioned the Chief as to what the point of the test was by pulling dry hoses? He was told not to question or ridicule the matter, or else there would be disciplinary action. Go figure. Once again stupidity reigns supreme.   Bill T.
