Nothing TAB, in the context of a gun discussion I was referring to the modified S&W 39 that Majer described.

It came out at the very beginning of the "wonder nine" era and helped goad S&W into a similar treatment of the model 59 that they originally named the model 669.

A little out of context, but the ASP was also the name of a 1/24 scale slotcar from the late 60's and early 70's made by "Classic" I believe.  Yes, I am an old fart...and I remember the ASP pistol and ASP retractable baton too.

I really like the Para G.I. Expert ESP in the S.S. finish. But I would take one in the Para-Cote finish if I could get it a little cheaper.

I would go with the stainless.  Para does have a problem with some of its finishes.  I had a LTC that had the Regal finish peel off in sheets.  Otherwise it was a good gun.

Is sounds like you dealer has some personal ax to grind with Para.

My LTC is sitting in my nightstand cocked and locked with Wilson Combat mags.  It would not be there if it didn't work, every time.

Lifetime guarantee tells me they'll stand behind the guns they manufacture.

The ASP was a cut down S&W 39 in 9mm it had clear grips so you could see the number of rounds in the magazine it also had a "Gutter snipe" sighting system that was very fast if used correctly. It was designed by a former OSS agent if memory serves me correctly.

It was also the favorite gun for James Bond in the 007 novels written by John Gardner....

I've always wanted an ASP....and I've wondered why the Guttersnipe never became more popular.....I'd love one for my XDsc....
Why, yes....I'm the right-wing extremist Obama warned you about... ;D

I just wish Texas was as free and independent as everyone thinks it is...   :'(

I thought of the snake that Cleopatra reportedly use to commit suicide.

I guess you older farts can still be quicker on the draw than us middle-aged poots.   ;)   ;D

Went looking for the 1,000 round challenge video but could not find it.
Have to agree with Majer, most "gun shop guy's" don't know their ass from an ASP.
(Extra points for any one who does remember the ASP.  ;D  )

I like my Para.

To some, there are only 3 makers of 1911s: Colt, Springfield and Kimber - everything else is junk.  My Para ran great and when there was a problem it got fixed right away and sent back within a week.  They even replaced my magazines with ones they made just to make sure the problem went away.  However, I have no experience with the GI.

I have never heard anything bad about Paras - except for Ichiban's finish problem. Not something to worry about with a SS gun.
You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.
