It couldn't happen to a nicer guy, "Liberace of Arabia" seems to be on the ropes, but things are getting bloody over there. Here's hoping there is someone to fil the vacuum quickly.

There is some question as to where Ghadafi has fled.  The Brits have reported that he is on his wey to Venezuela.  Al Jazeera says he is headed back to southern Libya to make a stand at his original hometown.  Either way, it would seem that his time in power is nearing an end.  However, in the meantime, the Libyan airfarce is reported to have dropped bombs on demonstrators in Tripoli.

Let's hope his egomaniacal son doesn't try to step up and fill the void.

To quote a certain Robert Dillan:  The times they are a'changin'.
“I’ve lived the literal meaning of the ‘land of the free’ and ‘home of the brave.’ It’s not corny for me. I feel it in my heart. I feel it in my chest. Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle

Ok I'm going to assume you guys are talking about Quadaffi

Yes FQ I'm aware of your spelling deficiencies, but names ARE important.

I was reading over the weekend that riots have started there, and they sound pretty bloody. Whatever, rag heads knocking each other around is like a national past time in those countries.  ::)  What I did notice that raised my hackles was that the Libyan government has shut down the internet there. That in particular got me because BHO has been so adamant about things like net neutrality, the fairness doctrine, and having a kill switch for the internet. I think he knows that a storm is coming and he wants control over the resistance's primary means of communication.

You should probably be more worried about the fact he is ordering soldiers to open fire. The army seems to be refusing, but he has paid mercenaries and a Praetorian guard. As for the spelling, either  is correct, though it is Gaddafi (no H, oops!) :-[. Look it up.

The name is an Anglicization of the Arabic and may be spelled in a variety of ways.  Ghadafi is a commonly accepted spelling.

The Quaker certainly has his shortcomings in spelling (and politics--sorry FQ, but I had to add that), but this ain't one of 'em.  Qaddafi is another commonly accepted spelling--two d's and only one f.

Names are important, but this dirtbag's name isn't as important as most other names.

Offered by Crusader, in limited support of the Fighting Quaker's ability to spell--at least this one time.

Khadafi is another variation.
And all of you who are gloating really don't know what you are talking about.
He renounced terrorism, closed the training camps (with gunfire) and turned over all his WMD stuff more than a decade ago.
He has been the power pushing Libya toward the west and since 9-11 has been one of our most reliable sources of intel and support in the region.
His fall is not good for us.
Basicly you are to uninformed to realize you are cheering for the enemy.
The fact that FQ thinks it's great should have been enough to make you do some research.

I stand corrected, I just googled him and that was the first spelling to come up. I have never seen it spelled with a G.

Problem is that without our support, his fall may be inevitable. And I don't see BHO intervening in this one either. He'll waffle like he did on Egypt so he come look like he was on the right side all along.  >:(

I don't think its great., I just have zero sympathy for the bastard. My hope is that some pro-western (eg smart) general will man up and take over. Libiya has done a ton of business with the West, the UK in particular, since they handed over the Lockerbie bombers. One would hope that someone in the miltary would see no reason to stop a good thing and our give Mohammar the Marcos treatment and hand him a suitcase full of money and a one way ticket to anywhere.
