Hope in one hand, sh!t in the other. Which hand fills up first ?
Are you really gullible enough to think the riots sweeping the Arab world are coincidence ?
Gee, Egypt, Jordan, Algeria, Bahrain, Libya, and Yemen, what do they all have in common ?
The Govt's are PRO WESTERN.
Even FQ should be able to see something THAT blindingly obvious.  ::)

Actually, what I see are autocratic kleptocracies that have no real ideological base of support. You have one family in charge that rules through bribery and intimidation and no real platform to justify itself. Libiya is a partial exception as Gaadafi's "green Book" is a mish mash of socialism and Isalam (I actually had to read the thing once :P). Still, his regime in the last 20 years has been all about him. The only two nations in the middle east that have some internal cohesion are Iran and Israel, and Iran's is sliping fast as the younger geration is sick to deat of "The Islamic Revolution" and wants jobs. There is no anti-western conspiracy here. We have just backed a lot of jerks (for lack of any better option). Still, now the bill is coming due. The only option is to see if we can do business with the new aholes the same as we did with the old aholes.

Even so, Tom, a dictator is a dictator is a dictator and eventually, the oppressed will stage an uprising.  Yeah, you can say, "Well, at least he was OUR dictator," but that doesn't carry much weight when the masses get their collective shorts in a bunch.

You say Ghadafi was pushing his country toward the west, but you forgot about Lockerbee.  THAT wasn't a bunch of roses for the dead Americans on the flight.  Additionally, Libya is now and has been an extremely oppressive regime when it comes to womens rights, freedom of religion, or the westernization of its youth.

Did we get some good intel from him?  Others will have to decide that, but I am struck by a couple or three facts.  One, the Q'uran says it's perfectly okay to lie to an infidel.  Two, except for the current resident in the WH, we are mostly a nation of infidels.  Three, Ghadafi is a mooslum.  The conclusion that follows is as inevitable as the dawn:  Ghadafi is a liar and we shouldn't trust a word that comes out of his mouth.

Now, am I worried about what lies over the horizon?  You're darned right I am.  I see the mooslum brotherhood playing an increasingly strident role in the affairs throughout the Mid-East.  Egypt has already announced that the peace agreement with Israel is under review (read: null and void). Nation-State after Nation-State are ousting their corrupt monarchs/dictators in favor of who knows what?  But the mooslum brotherhood is stepping up to the plate to give 'em all a nice opportunity to install a theocracy.

This is an exceedingly dangerous time, and the fecal matter is certainly hitting the oscillating air movement system in a very large way.

Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle

I'm kinda sad to see him go...he was a pretty well behaved little despot and kept his pie-hole shut since Reagan blew his ass up.
I got the blues as my companion.

F*ck the masses. The masses that you are so concerned about hate us,want Israel nuked, regret that Hitler couldn't gas ALL the Jews, and overwhelmingly support groups like the PLO,the Muslim Brotherhood,  Hamas, Hezbollah, and Al Queda.
If you think loosing all our supporters in North Africa and Arabia will lead to "Democratic reforms" you are on crack.
They don't want that, they don't understand or like all the arguing that we have to go through, they want to be told what to do, they do not have the background to think for themselves and don't want to.
They want to get the pigs out of power so their tribe can get their snouts in the trough.

YES !!!!!
The fall of the Soviet Union was a disaster for 3rd world stability. During the Cold war there were 2 superpowers maintaining stability in those regions. With the fall of Soviet Communism it was left entirely up to those f*ck ups in Washington and they have done just as poorly in that regard as in everything else they touch.
AMTRAK = African Policy = train wreck.
