I have a Kimber Eclipses that has close to 3000 round through and never had a problem with. I was at the range and a buddy was there with his Springfield , went back next week and he showed up with a Kimber that he traded his Springfield in for and I asked why did you do that? Because yours shoot a lot better than mine did! He hasn't been sorry.

Others on here have said bad things about customer service, "Lifetime warranty = lifetime wait"
I broke the captive recoil spring assemble in my 24/7. I called Taurus and was going to buy a new assemble because I broke it and it was my fault, not the guns. I spoke to a fellow named Mike, he told me to send the broken assemble to him and he would replace it free of charge. He did and I received a new assemble in about a week. Don't know if I am the exception to the rule, but to me that is good service.

Blvedere, is yours a long slide 24/7 or just the regular model?  I might go handle one of the Long Slide versions of that pistol.  I am tempted by the Para Ordinance Super Hawg Long Slide but I don't know if I can ever afford the $1400 price tag.

Mine is a short slide, I bought it for my Grandaughter. The gun feels good to me and I like the sa/da trigger set up. Don't know what a 1911 sells for ,but I would guess it is about half the Para...

I dunno about the Taurus 1911 or not. At one point I was considering trying one myself. That is until I went to the shoot range with a buddy of mine who had a almost new Taurus 1911. It looked nice. The price he payed was cheap for a 1911. However, when he shot it..  he was all over the place. I took my Glock 23 .40 and smoke'd him;D But, the thing is I could have taken almost anything and smoke'd him. For whatever reason his Taurus was not accurate. He tried 3 different kinds of .45 ammo.. all with similar results. Another guy at the range shot a mag of this guys ammo through his Kimber 1911 and his shots were all close to the bullseye. My buddy traded the gun off shortly after. So, I dunno.. maybe it was a bad apple of the bunch????

I love my pt1911 even after 850 rounds and 9 months of carry. Looking at it you can see the finish realing starting to wear yet I've only had a few actual malfunctions. Namely 1 failure to extract and twice the slide stop failed to engage once closing the slide with an empty chamber and once locking open with a round in the mag. Both I attribute to mags and a new shooter I had with me using it when this happened. No big issue there. I have be able to use aftermarket parts with no trouble including the Kimber .22 conversion, grips, commander style hammer I changed out and a heavier duty recoil spring to help ensure functionallity when using TAP FPD .45ACP +P. Something Taurus said not to do. If Dick Metcalf trusts it and Michael Bane thinks highly of it for a 1911 in it's price range then I say give it a try.

I just bought a Taurus 1911 with Crimson Trace red dot grips. It retailed out for $720.00 and I got it for 689.00 +tax.  I went to the range, shot 400 rounds of different .45 loads thru it and it functioned real well.  It even takes my 7 shot Colt Mags which are all stainless and functions supperb.  Rich642z,Omaha,Ne ;) ;) ;)

You know what? Sooner or later I'm going to end up with a Taurus...not sure which...maybe several.
I've heard that they're junk at two of four gun shops. One of them was a very snobby place (and they didn't SELL Taurus) and one is a small local shop where the guy is a nice fella but couldn't think his way out of a restroom on a 747. So I don't know.

Hey...oh no, ....here I go again....
We do have DRTV who's got our backs...maybe they could get Taurus to let us all test some of their guns for a few thousand rounds and SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT.
I volunteer.
