I find this a little troubling, even if you are a permanent resident, without citizenship, I don't think that our rights as citizens should apply to you. I don't have an issue with people that have duel citizenship, but this seems too close to granting our rights to illegals.
If you want to have our rights, then you should have to have citizenship. Period.
Two things JC5123:
1. The key designation is "permanent resident" status;
2. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights is based on protecting Rights endowed to us by our Creator. The document does not create or grant the Right, it just protects it.
I actually feel that U.S. citizens have a carry permit, and it is called the Second Amendment to the Untied States Constitution. Any other requirements placed on said exercise is an infringement of the Right held by the law abiding citizen. I have no problem with an alien resident needing to have a permit, but I have a hard time finding a reason denying them the exercise of this Right with minimal restriction as long as the are legal and law abiding.
