Sounds like an issue with either the firing pin (or springs), or primer. The fact that it "looked" like a good hit makes me thing primer issue. I get this with different brands of .22lr in different guns. If you have a chance try several in another gun and see if you have similar results. This is what makes reloading fun

My main check plan to start narrowing down is to take 100 rounds of factory and shoot it up in suspect gun (this is fun work), and then take LOTS of reload and run it through the suspect gun and another like it to compare success and failure rate (more fun). Nothing says you can't shoot fun games while testing ... go out and shoot all afternoon and keep a few notes. Later in the evening you can sit down with your wrists packed in ice and a beverage of choice and see what the notes tell you about the ammo and guns. Don't you wish high school science was this much fun?
