Two lessons here.

1.  He made a very aggressive exit from  his vehicle and it appeared to me he was likely going for a weapon.  I wasn't able to spot his hand in the video, so don't know what she was able to see.  From what I was able to see, Good Shoot.  Lesson is, if you do not intend to be aggressive, have both hands in sight and raised as much as possible while exiting.

2.  Be very aware and careful of what you say to an LEO after a shooting, even if YOU are and LEO.

Questionable shoot IMHO. He did bring his hand from the offside, but when she shot it was in front of him and clear.

But as a local cop put it, if in doubt, the cop's going home safe at the end of the day. Guess they taught her that too.

Bad situation, the guy made it worse.

According to the local news here, she was escorted out of two bars for unruly, drunk & disorderly, belligerent stupid drunken asshat behavior.

It continued to the beach, where there were more drunk & disorderly, belligerent asshats on the beach....

Sounds like the Spring Break of yesteryear,....... ::)

And if all of that is true, there was zero need to body slam her. All he had to do was cuff her behind her back, pull her down on her butt, and she wouldn't be going anywhere or doing anything, except for maybe barfing on herself. This is where the total stupidity of some of these cops never ceases to amaze me. It seems the bigger the audience they have, the dumber they act. Remember the big asshat cop in Baltimore with the golf cart and the kids on the skateboards?

Police have a huge public relations problem as it is. Give them an opportunity to improve it with no risk to them, and they'll make it worse every time by abusing their authority and acting stupid in the process. That woman posed no risk to him, or most anyone else. Yeah, she was most likely acting like a drunken fool. Big deal. Now, because of this clowns over reaction in front of a crowd with 50 video phones rolling, he along with his department are viral on every video website on the Internet. Here comes yet another 6 or 7 figure lawsuit that department will most likely lose, and the taxpayers will have to pay for, all because this idiot has to prove he's a bad ass. They need to be raising the difficulty level of the tests for these guys, not lowering them. Dumb cops like this clown are too expensive for an already overburdened taxpayer. That was a 110 pound drunk girl, not an armed 200 pound gang banger.  Bill T.

Two things:

1. The info we have and the video are not enough to make a good call about if it's a good/bad shoot.

2. How quick this went off topic to cop bashing. Some do deserve to be bashed, but what's that got to do w this?

My $0.02

1st video.  Why was she chasing him?  Had he led them on a pursuit? I give the officer the benifit of the doubt.

2nd Video It starts after the problem began. If she was walking away from being arrested sorry but she could have been tazed, or OC'ed and I would have been fine.

3rd video The kid needs his ass spanked. There are signs all over the Inner Harbour saying no skateboarding.

4th video Cops get fired

5th video Deputy gets days off. Hint: in jail do not kick your shoes off at jailers They tend to think pile on you and teach you manneers. Do it to another inmate and you'll get beat down

There is a big difference between "bashing" and criticizing someone for behaving poorly. My point in posting those videos is these guys knew they were on video, and in spite of that they let their authority, and egos, get away from them like a runaway train. Common store clerks restrain themselves with irate customers better than these clowns did. If you want the authority that goes with the gun and badge, use it, don't abuse it.
