It seems to be a tragic year of the world , Tornadoes, Earthquakes and Floods. People are strong when times are tough. I pray for all how are in peril. As for me, I need to go out and scape the SNOW of my truck. Damn global warming.

Isn't it interesting how hundreds of people in our own back yards have been killed, thousands left homeless, lives destroyed, and all the media can talk about is a STUPID WEDDING IN ANOTHER COUNTRY INVOLVING PEOPLE WHO MEAN NOTHING TO THE WORLD AS A WHOLE.  AND NEVER WILL...   >:(

I'm watching CNN right now and Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley is on with Tuscaloosa Mayor Walter Maddox and Pres. BHO.  The Gov. praised and thanked the local responders for their work and the communities for their preparedness, and the Mayor assured the Pres. that the government will be proud of how they pull together as a community and recover.

They did thank the Pres. and say his appearance is an appreciated show of support.  Then the Pres. followed with making sure we all knew which politicians were all there and a little glad handing.  Oh yea, Pres. BHO shooed bugs away from the Gov. while he was speaking.

In my short description, does anyone notice a difference between how the people of Alabama responded to the disaster and greeted federal leaders following a sudden disaster as opposed the people of Louisiana who had over a week to prepare?  By the way, the Pres. did not bring or promise anything today except that the federal government will be looking at this and working with help in the future.

Personal and local responsibility by good citizens is good to see!

We're pretty good folks down around these parts.  It's sad, but things will eventually recover. 

I've tried not to watch too much coverage.  I'm just blessed that the big one missed me (barely) and a smaller one missed my folks (barely).

My parents live about half an hour east of Tuscaloosa. They made through it ok. Lost power and lots of wind but no major damage. I had no idea about the storms until people started calling me and asking how they were. Luckily their cell phones still worked.

Several were killed just a few minutes from us, we dodged a bullet. Seems all the storms go south or north of us. We have the mountains north and the lakes south. we are just north of Newport and Greenville Tn. Which got hammered . They say more will come because of  La Nena, the cooling of the seas as apposed to El Neno, the warming of the seas. Could be a rough season.
