Herk Nav is wrong about the leadership thing. Surprising from a military person too, he should know better.
The presidents only job is to lead the Government
Actually, he leads
one branch of the federal government. When I hear somebody say they want a leader, I hear them saying they want to be led. I don't need to be led anywhere. I (the taxpayer) am hiring somebody to take care of our nation's business. Yes, Solus, that means being able to make hard decisions. I not only can accept that--I expect it.
You guys seem to think I want something from the federal government and that I will treat it as an ATM or that I will treat the President as a fairy godmother. All I want is to be left alone and for them to not run the country into the ditch.
Tom--you mention that you want the President to solve the immigration problem, the debt, and unemployment. The President has no direct control (besides veto power) of any of these. Yes, he can call for action, but unless Congress and the Judiciary and work with him, then he's just thinking out loud.
One man alone will not solve our problems. I believe some folks tried that in '08. We, as a nation, are going to have to be the ones to clean this up. In order to do that, we have to come to an agreement on how to handle the issues.
