cha ching$$$

I am working on my first drop turner target, which won't be the collapsible/foldable variety...but for that first one I spent $57 in steel, and I will end up with plenty of steel left over.

I guess I am going to have to learn how to spray paint or powder coat.   :P

How much in time, equipment, and supplies will you have in making the first one? Whether you realize it or not the first is always the most expensive....Good luck and show us how it all turns out!   :)

I got the first drop turner done.

I've got primer on about 98% of it.  I have one little piece I have to grind grind down a little bit and then I'll spray some primer on it.

I will post a pic here once I get some cell phone camera to email hiccups ironed out.

I went shooting yesterday with my AR15 and the AR7.62X39.  The 7.62X39 is still wearing the 3 to 9 power Nikon.  Me and some buds were shooting kind of an IDPA style informal tactical match.

Anywhooo...I thought shooting on the move wouldn't be so hard, but MAN!  looking through the scope really amplifies any movement at all in the gun.

Yeah, I know, DUH!  Surprise!?  Right?

but having shot countless IDPA and USPSA matches with a pistol...jeesh... a pistol is so much easier.

I have him...errr...me enrolled in a puppy obedience class through PetSmart.  We meet once a week for 6 weeks.

Back in 2000 when we got our Golden Retriever pup we enrolled him in a Pet Smart Obedience Class. It's a great way to teach your dog the basic commands, and get him used to other dogs. Be sure to stick with it. Many don't. By the time the "course" was over there was only us and one other dog left in the class. All of the others, (7 dogs), dropped out. It's sad, but a lot of people don't want to take the time to spend with their animals, then get frustrated when the animal won't behave, and develops a lot of bad habits. That is the main reason so many rescue shelters are full.

I had to have "Sam" put down a year ago, just short of his 10th birthday. Not a day goes by we don't think about him. Most people don't affect me the way he did.  Bill T.

Agreed!  It is amazing how quiet the house is without a dog in it.   :(

Sorry to hear that Bill.My advice though is don't buy another pup too soon. Grieve for awhile, and yes I made that mistake,. I bought a new pup less than 12 weeks after my buddy died. I thought it would help. It just made it worse. It wasn't fair to me or him. Of course, he got hit by a car less than three months later and that was the capper on it. I didn't get a new dog for almost three years.
Tyler, for a run and gun course, lose the scope or get a red dot. With the AR sight system, I can't reccomend eotech enough. That 6 mil circle is a two eyes open, center of mass no brainer. Save the 3x9 for varmints. In fact, for 7.62x39, just leave it home. Get a 1x4 or a red dot or shoot irons. Just my .02.

I doubt we'll get another dog. It gets to be just too much work the older you get. I do miss not having one, but if we ever do it won't be for at least a few more years until I retire. Then perhaps, but right now I'm leaning against it.  Bill T.
