As much as I've held a grudge against Ruger for years, and as poor as their former rifles have performed I'm real impressed with their current line of both 10/'22 and Mini14s.
The deal was in the past they really didn't go for accuracy, but of late they've been paying more attention. I've owned four Mini14, one Mini30 and a standard model 10/22 none of which would group 1" outside of 10yards. And the Mini14s wouldn't even hold 10" at a 100 yds. BUT NOW: The newer models can are tack drivers especially the 10/22 heavy barrel. Mine at 50yds will make one hole of 5 shots at 50 yds. And at 100Yds. See below

Just let me repeat, if you didn't read it. THAT'S 100 YARDS. My super varmint, heavy barrel Savage wouldn't even do that and it cost ~$400.
Of course, AMMUNITION MATTERS. Here's a comparison at 50yds.

As Okdkat said, There's so much more after market for the Ruger.
