Maybe...maybe not...... I once shot a dog while being thrown from a bucking horse.   :-[

It was a feral dog that came charging out of the woods and spooked the horses while several of us were out riding rural dirt roads years ago. Every time I thought I had the horse calmed down it would act up again and the dog wouldn't let up. Long story short, I was flung sideways off the horse on the same side where the dog was and it was just a 'gut-reaction' to draw my side arm. I really didn't consciously realize I had already shot before/as I hit the ground, but that is what the others said I did. Anyway, I tucked and rolled and when I came up on one knee with the gun pointed at the dog, he was on his side doing an impersonation of Angus Young. So I finished him with another shot.

And for the record, I make no claim what-so-ever that it was skill......it was purely luck.......(but I have made some lucky Bob Munden-style shots in my life).



*Note: We notified animal control and had the carcass picked up for rabies testing and the dog wasn't rabid.....maybe it was just my cologne.  :-\

Well, I guess it does sound skillful when typed out or spoken at the grill or campfire.....but I expect it wasn't pretty to see......it surely wasn't pretty to feel, as I was stoved-up for a few days to boot.

I will admit that it was back when ammo was cheap and I shot several hundred rounds two to three mornings a week (worked the graveyard shift and had the range to myself any day of the week).
