Solus is right.
Even if it was all ugly girls showing up at Atlantic city they would still name one of them Miss America.

ROFL! (Though I kind of like the idea of George Hamilton, William Shatner, David Hasselhoff and Paula Abdul walking off the stage in disgust, with Donald " just call me "Mr. President" Trump protesting in the background). ;D

I don't know about that Solus. If something is pretty much a copy of an existing product does it deserve the marketing bump (at the expense of that product) from being able to say its "The pistol of the year" in its ads? Sometimes I think NOT handing out an award because nothing deserves it might be the better option. Just a thought. YMMV.

It isn't the Best Handgun Ever or the Best Handgun Of The Past Few Years, it is the Best Handgun Of The Year, meaning introduced this year.

It is awarded by the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence, which looks like it is likely a Firearms Trade organization.  They are not gonna say   "Well, all we managed to come up with this year were crappy copies of stuff done better in the past, so no one gets the award".

It would be very anti-climatic at the Awards Dinner and Ceremony should that happen.  Folks might not even pay their dues to attend something like that.

Heck, if they concluded with "So what the hell is wrong with you people that the best you can come up with is yet another 1911 or a rip off of a keltec (yet again)? You are useless weasels with no imagination who ought to be ashamed of yourselves. JMB would kick you so hard in the teeth you could bite yourself in the ass! No award for you!" I might pay double to attend that! ;D

Might work if they weren't saying it to those who pay their salary and created their organization in the first place.  They did it to  make themselves look good and put a spotlight on the industry overall.  Don't do that and you are on the street.  You work for the Firearms Industry, not Consumer Reports.

It's absolutely amazing how much that company has improved product and profit wise, since no one with the last name Ruger controls anything there any longer. The SR-556, SR-1911, Mini 14's in many Tactical versions with 20 round magazines and collapsible stocks standard, 25 round magazines for the 10/22, Scout Tactical Rifle, just to name a few. I think Bill Ruger's tired, old, anti gun philosophy has finally been laid to rest by people who actually know and care what their customers really want.  Bill T.

Why is the LC9 a total fail?

LCP vs 8 round LC9:

LCP vs 11 round Glock .45

Along with the fact that they came out with another 1911...   ::)

Then can someone please advise why did they bring out a crappy bolt action 44 mags and not re-introduce the 96/44 preferably with a bigger capacity magazine, imho one of the best bush gun's ever, ideal for busting hogs or deer, wide range of ammo available and one of the best magazine designs ever. Compared to other lever actions like the winshitter 94/92's and their clones etc, they are easier and quicker to load and the short throw lever is a pleasure to use. Would be a perfect base for SHTF carbine.
