So here in my little burb of S. FL. We have a weekly "newspaper" with local events, goings on, school sports, etc,....
Well, the front page article was titled. "Gun Friendly Law, Leaves Springs In A Fix".
October 1, the Joe Carlucci Uniform Firearms Act, goes into effect. In essence, it makes all Florida counties adhere to State Law across the board.
Liberal leaning cities, (like mine)

and Palm Beach, (FQ)... and others, cannot "modify" gun laws anymore. Currently, one cannot carry concealed in our city parks.....This changes 10/1.
So here's what I wrote/emailed the Mayor, Vice Mayor, and two City Commissioners, all quoted in the article.

Dear Mayor Gold,
As a Coral Springs resident, I wanted to express my dismay and disappointment in reading your quotes in the Aug. 25th Coral Springs Forum, regarding the Joe Carlucci Uniform Firearms Act.
Equally disheartening, were the remarks made by members of the City Commission, and Vice Mayor. As you are well aware, in 1987, Florida passed a Concealed Carry Law. Since than, over 1.8 Million Permits have been issued to Florida residents.
Back than, the initial misconceptions from politicians in opposition to the law, were "blood in the streets, cowboy town shootings, folks being gunned down for a parking space." etc,..
All of these misconceptions never occurred, and have been proven false in 49 other states with Concealed Carry Laws.
The majority of Florida Voters supported this law, and the legislature, representing the majority, passed it. So I am requesting enlightenment regarding your pg. 1 quote in the Coral Springs Forum where you state, "This sets a bad precedent.".
Law abiding citizens can legally carry concealed firearms in grocery stores, retail shops, fast food establishments, hardware stores, and a host of other places that I am sure you frequent.
So please explain to me, and make the distinction between your opposition to lawful concealed carry in city parks, and the other areas where it is legal to carry concealed.
I have a Concealed Carry Permit, and have acquired professional training in firearms and self-defense for over 20 years. I am a member of the NRA, and a voter. I also take my Second Amendment Rights very seriously. It is sad that you and other members of the City Commission do not.
Please remember, that criminals prefer unarmed victims, and ignore any and all gun laws. Restrictive gun laws effect law-abiding citizens, exercising their Constitutional Rights, just like the other freedoms afforded to us in the Constitution.
When seconds count, the Police are minutes away, and I will defend my family from a lethal threat. Wherever that might occur.
Please feel free to email me back if you are so inclined.
"(The Constitution preserves) the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation...(where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."
James Madison.
"Arms in the hands of citizens (may) be used at individual discretion...in private self defense..."
John Adams, A defense of the Constitutions of the Government of the USA, 471 (1788).
Sincerely,
Thomas Watchorn

I wrote similar emails to the Vice Mayor, and Commissioners using their quotes, and remaining polite. As much as I wanted to call them anti-gun liberal assclowns!!!
One Commissioner quoted: "Having people with guns anywhere they want is frightening", (I had a good one for that).
Another quoted: "A tragedy may occur." (I replied, like a child being kidnapped, a family beaten and robbed tragedy?)
I have yet to receive a response, and probably will not. But someone had to call them on it....Screw them. They are going to hear from someone who has had it.
Seeing how I'm on a list or two,.....this one probably got me on another....
