Iowa City Police responded to Kum & Go, 25 W. Burlington St., at 12:19 a.m. Saturday for a report of a man armed with a handgun. Upon arrival, a man matching the suspect description took off running when he spotted the officers, police said. Police ordered the man to stop and he eventually did.

During a search, police found a black metal BB handgun in the man’s waistband. Police said the weapon was loaded, had a CO2 propellant in it and had the safety off. Police said the subject, identified as 18-year-old Christian A. Ford, admitted to getting into an argument with another person and lifted his shirt to show the other person he had the weapon.

Ford was arrested and charged with carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Too much left out of the reported story. Did he flash the gun during an argument in the store or just "print" and the clerk saw it?

Police said the weapon was loaded, had a CO2 propellant in it and had the safety off.

OMG!! He's gonna shoot his eye out!
You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

Ok, but the counter evidence of this being anti agit-prop is this: WHY did he have a BB pistol stuck in his shorts at a convience store? ???
I mean, I doubt he was going out plinking, and plenty of stores have been held up with BB guns. If I'm the clek and sombody shows me a weapon I'm not going to take a minute to see it its real or not (unless its blindingly obvious). And hey, even then it could be a Hi-point or a P-90 and oops, I lose! ;D
The point is, a BB gun in the truck, no biggie. A BB gun stuffed in your pants at a Quikee Mart? 'Choo got some 'splainin' to do.

This guy is lucky that he only got charged with "carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor."  In most cases, a bb gun is treated the same as any firearm.  For example, if he robbbed a store with it, it would be armed robbery or the like.  I'm not that old, but bb guns, as a whole, look a lot more realistic now than they did when I was younger.  If he pulled it on the cops or a ccw holder, he would likely have been shot by something much more powerful than his bb gun.

At least he was carrying it ready to shoot.   ;)  There's no need, imo, to carry a handgun without a round in the chamber and it fully loaded.

I wonder if he realized this didn't work last time either....

I heard the other day that the tattoo was so they would know where to put their gun when they carry it.  Although, carrying in that style and location seems like a good way to lose some important body parts.
