Teaching respect is the key. 

Respect for others who have not demonstrated they do not deserve respect, respect for your parents and respect for your self.

jumbofrank's  "peep" punishment was for lack of respect and smart mouthing his dad.

Path's signature speaks directly to that.

I have a great dislike for disrespect and most of my "flares" of anger are due to disrespect shown to someone.

Sorry.. I couldn't help it.. If it's any consolation, that seemed to be one of the things that got my but beat in school... I don't know if they were trying to beat some smarts into it or beat the smart out of it.. Without knowing the goal, I can't tell you if they succeeded or not... ::)
I think the short female teachers and the first year male teachers were worst. I was the guy they used to make an example of.  Sometimes I didn't have to speak before I got paddled, really.. I had one teacher who was honest about it.. His famous line was "Walk in, sit down ans shut up!". I shot a warm chocolate football at him one time... I was aiming for his glasses, missed by 5 inches and hit the chalkboard.. I'm glad I missed.. I wasn't thinking much about what would have happened if I'd connected.. I didn't get caught.. Oddly enough, out of that five or so year period, he was one of the few who never laid lumber to butt on me..
Did you ever feel sorry for the skinny kids?


I have a logical explanation for my misspelling.  I had just finished reading posts by both FQ and TAB when I posted that.   ;D
