Winters are sooooooo long in Minnesota

It's a little early for cabin fever to get this bad, but at least she made Letterman last night  ;D

Until we got Dish, KEYC was our main station - Damn I miss it!

You can watch her entire evening on this YouTube.  By the way, at the 3:30 mark of the broadcast they break for a commercial, and when they come back the weatherman is in her chair, and she is gone.

If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

She's blaming it on medication she's taking for an undisclosed illness.  Almost sounded as if she were having a stroke on-air.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

Hell, even if she was drunk they ought to give her a raise, they made Letterman for God's sake. Besides if I was a reporter and the big news of the night is opening a new cancer treatment ward and the Santa Dog at Christmas on the farm, I'd be drunk too. Having the anchor plastered will probably boost their ratings. ;D

That's because you're out of touch with what is considered important out here in the boonies.

Maybe, but I don't think so. Lets see which is more likely to get you to stay up till 11:30 watching the news rather than surfing the web or going to bed.
A. Lets see the cool new building at the hospital, which looks exactly like every other hospital you've been in, and we'll show you what indignity Milly Laarson has inflicted on her dog this year for the sleigh ride.
B. Lets watch the cute anchor gal and see whether she is sober enough to get through this with a straight face or just says "screw it" takes another swig of Jack, and starts in on a tirade about why the Vikings suck this year when the Lions "The freaking Lions!" are playing so well.
I know what would make want to watch. Are you sure you're in broadcasting? ;D

First off, our news is on at the civilized hour of 10PM, which was even said at the beginning of the video. Let me help you out here a bit, since you may have trouble comprehending something like this. The tag line of "12 at 10" means CHANNEL 12 at 10PM.

This is from a fairly rural community where things like new cancer wards matter to people who may lack your "education" but certainly do not lack for compassion for their neighbors in need or the intelligence to understand how important the ward is.

As for Millly's dog, well, yeah, we might all get a good laugh out of it, but it ain't a snarky, look-down-your-nose laughter, it is one of recognition of Milly, her dog, and the funny things she does to it. It's called community.

And as for the anchor, the community will most likely ignore her on-air drunk and/or medication issue and move on, perhaps quietly commenting on it to one another for a brief time (aka gossip). But hopefully she will get the benefit of the doubt and be back on the air.

Perhaps we need to add "faux Christian" to your appellations a well as faux libertarian"? Scripture tells us that you who are without sin may cast the first stone. Enjoying her humiliation at the hands of an asswipe like Letterman doesn't exactly fall under that instruction.
"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do this to others and I require the same from them"

asswipe ........ Letterman

So, I'm not the only one who uses these words in conjunction?  ;)
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

"When it comes to the enemy, just because they ain't pullin' a trigger, doesn't mean they ain't totin' ammo for those that are."~PegLeg

Letterman is a sign or symptom of what is wrong with our society.  Just like a fever or runny nose tells us something is wrong with our body, people, programs and media like Letterman tell us something is wrong with our society.  Rather than check the facts we tear apart someone to make sure we aren't at the bottom of the heap and to show how superior we are to others.

Our internet provider uses yahoo as part of the email, and we get yahoo news every time we check emails.  I haven't counted so that I can be fully objective, but my perception is that well over half of the "news" stories are about someone or something like happened on this newscast, or some gossip about ugly dresses, matching dresses worn by actresses at an event, a person wearing the same outfit out in public twice, ugly hair cuts, or the love lives or sex habits of the rich and famous.  GET A LIFE AMERICA!!!

Two points Path
First, I am not looking down my nose ar anyone, just remarking on the silliness of local news (I watch it, but it is silly much of the time). I mean, why make some poor reporter stand out in the cold to broadcast "live" from a crime scene that police were finished with hours ago? What are you showing but an empty street? Let the guy report from the studio.

Second, as far as Millie's poor dog? I am a dog lover and believe that any dog who is forced to wear clothing (with the exception of field gear for working dogs) should be entitled to bite their owner at least once in defense of their dignity. ;D
