Wish I could show my primary carry gun but I'm not able to include pixs.  It is a Colt Officers ACP LW with a special thumb safety that extends backwards instead of forward so that I can reach it with my stubby/short thumb.  The grip safety is also different because the hump has been built up so that I depress it with my high thumb grip.  Looks like s..t but it works for me.  A S&W 642 J frame with old style grips and Tyler T grip adaptor is for waaaaaarm weather carry.

GLOCK ...............GLOCK....................GLOCK.....................GLOCK.....................GLOCK...........

I carry a Glock 23 (.40 s&w) and/or and Glock 27 (.40 s&w) 99% of the time. Very rarely will I mix it up and carry another type of small pocket pistol/ revolver. If it's warm/hot ..in summer it's mostly the smaller model 27. In the winter and cold it's always the model 23!  ::). Although, lately the little 27 is becoming my primary carry weapon. It prints in a pocket too much. But, if you get the right iwb holster/ or a good ankle holster/ ..you can't see it and it's not too uncomforable. *Holster select is key.*  A flat holster helps tons. If you can do that.. you can have a small Glock ..j-frame size gun..with 9,10, or 11 rounds of .40 s&w in the mag..all in a gun that can accurately shot 25 yds. What's not to like?

Have carried the G23 with 155 grn HST, but it was too heavy, now a Kahr P9.
Have to increase my abdominal muscle and back muscle strength if I want to carry a G23 I'm 5"6" and 150lb and almost 60.

I love to carry my 1911's, but I carry my .357 snubby most of the time. It's hot and muggy here in Arkansas, so I can't always wear a jacket or un-tucked long shirt. The snubby is easy to hide, and I never feel under-powered with .357 mag. I will not carry the five shot version though. I always carry the six shooter. I do have to say that I am never far from my 1911 even if I am wearing the snubby. I put a 1911 in the glovebox or the console. I am also the kind of guy that will put a Mossberg Cruiser in the trunk or under the back seat of my truck if I am headed into the unknown.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Yes, I suspected it was an age thing, Old ones were "pocket pistols" and new ones (especialy if called "tactical" or "Elite") were "Sub compacts"  ;D

I've tried to use just a pocket to carry my Glock 26 (Sub compact)....... depending on what pants I'm wearing, it either wont fit, or its very obvious that I am packing. I just don't think that it is accurate to call it a pocket pistol. You have to get into those micro auto loaders to legitimately call them a pocket pistol.

I've been a law officer and am currently a civilian.  As a lawdog, I always carried a model 60 with the old 200 gr. SuperPolice loads.  They worked great at card table distance out of the subby.  As a civilian living in Maryland (a state with "might possibly issue - if you're a judge, a lawyer, or State Police officer!) I never carry anymore, since saving lives isn't a good reason to be issued a permit.  If I did carry nowdays, it would be something small, say 6 or 7 .45 ashtrays.  That's only if I were given the "privilege" of the right to carry concealed.

Let the debate begin..... Caliber preferences are also always nice to argue about.

It doesn't matter what caliber it is as long as the first number is 4 and the second number is larger than 0. That pretty much narrows it down to .44 and .45. There aren't many .41s out there and a .475/480 is too hard to conceal. Of course my .380 PPK on me is a lot better than my Para 14.45 in the gun safe, and my .22 magnum NAA mini is better than nothing at all. But one shot from a .45, two shots from a 9mm, and four shots from a .380 have about the same effect. They stop a fight. But I'd rather fire one shot than 2 or 4. Of course the .357 Magnum is king of all revolvers and does the job very well, but I no longer have one. I know my Para 10.45 is dependable but I think I'll be carrying my LDA 12.45 once I've shot it enough to prove it's worth. If I put 200-300 rounds through it without a hiccup, then I'll bet my life on it. The 12-shot frame fits my hand a lot better than the 10-shot, and the 3-1/2 inch barrel should be even more reliable than the 3 inch barrel because the 3 incher pushes the recoil system to it's limit. If I was going to buy a new one I'd get the LDA CCO or the Companion. They both have a 3-1/2 inch barrel, a 7-round single stack mag, that sweet LDA trigger, the PXT extractor, and weigh 2 pounds even.
