Springfield National Match M1A
« on: January 11, 2012, 03:40:45 PM »
There is one happy man in my house today. I'm not sure why though....it's not very pretty, but it will kill a zombie or two....
I got him what he wanted. 6 groove 1 in 10 twist, 2 stage military trigger match tuned, glass bedded...blah, blah, blah.....
Next is the scope or optics, not sure what he wants yet, I am resisting the thermal imaging though!   8)

Beautiful rifle! Whenever I want to hold a nice piece of machinery, I'll take my M1-A out of the safe.

If this becomes a major marital issue I'd be glad to store it for him ... All in the interest of family relations and all you know  ;D

Long ago, in a land far, far from here I got to play with it's brother the M14 and free ammo from our base armory!

What a hoot!

Where does the line start to babysit?

I would not put Optics on it.
The NM is meant for iron sights out to 1000 yards +.
If he wants a scoped M1A get him the "White Feather next year.  ;D

I love the M-14/M1A.  I think it is underrated.

Had Springfield build a NM M1A on a Fulton Armor receiver some years ago.

It was a beauty too, but without the SS barrel....

First day I took it to the range, there was a squad of Marines doing range time with their M16s with a Gunny for a honcho.

He wandered over to check out the M1A and looked at it so longingly I offered to let  him shoot it.....which he accepted..

He shot off hand and I was watching with my spotting scope and he shot a group better than I just did from a sandbag front rest.  I was in awe.

Honestly, I felt the right thing to do was to give it to him...they seemed made for each other.  I got better with it, but never nears as goos as that Gunny off hand.

Your man should be very pleased and is very lucky.  Well done, Red.

red, it is simply pure wood and metal.... BUT,...it is the Tim The Tool Man Taylor Rifle... complete with grunts,....As "ugly" as it is,....it is a work of art, and beauty to others, not unlike priceless artwork at the Met...

You are a kind and generous soul, to pass on a gift of such prestigious nature.

It is an M1A....

Zombie slayer, liberator, a true modern Minuteman's Rifle, and one to keep...

Very nice, with ALL the blah, blah, blah,.... ;) That's what makes it special... ;D

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Nice rifle...one of my many 'wants'.

A woman that'll buy that rifle for him?......... sounds like he has much to be happy about on several fronts.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison
