Greetings all

I'm Lawrence Keeney, and I'm from the coalfields of southern West Virginia, just south of Charleston.

I'm a newspaper crime reporter, and spend a lot of time taking photos, going to felony criminal trials, and doing what I can to make sure the bad guys end up in jail.

I've had a CCW since 1992, and am currently one of those unfortunate glockamaniacs.

I post at glocktalk, tacticalforums, warriortalk, knifeforums.com and free republic. I'm a supermoderator at www.paxbaculum.com too

I like scotch, cigars, 007 movies, 24 and cadillacs.

on 2 January 2005, I was run over by a car crossing the street in charleston, and thusly, have been forced to relearn self defense, since I walk with a cane now.

I'm dabbling in cane combatives, and alternative ways to save my butt from the bad guys while hobbling around on a stick and trying not to fall down and look silly.

3 wishes?

1. A case of glenfiddich reserve single malt scotch. ;D
2. Conseratives to win in 2008.
3. A 45acp LW Commander for less than $500 ;)

It IS going to be a great site! I had a meeting today about more and more content...all I've got to do is STOP SLEEPING, as it's cutting into my production time.

I was a crime reporter a couple of times, for the Clearwater FL SUN and assorted Florida newspapers.Florida had lots of fascinating crime, too! About that LW Commander...good luck! I do like the S&W Scandium LW Commander GUNSITE version...

Mike

We don't have the dismembered body floating in the canal sort of crime you probably wrote about down in Clearwater, but we do have some interesting things.

There are usually 1-2 murders in the county per year, and several shootings. The last homicide was in december, where a guy was beaten to death with two whacks from a pool stick. The assailant's father made the mistake of returning to the bar in question the next night, and was promptly shot at the door, even before he made it in.

There have been two officer involved shootings as well which show how much of a dandy stopper the 357 Sig really is.

Our big problems seem to be drug crime and perverts..we have one scummy individual just indicted for 393 counts of sexual assaults on children under his foster care.

His family members don't seem to take too kindly to the amount of light Ive focused on his case in the local newspaper...one other reason I carry a glock.

As for the scandium gunsite commander, I like it a lot, alas, a newspaperman's salary doesn't allow me a $1,200 45 auto. In another life, I spent $1,119 for a Kimber Gold Match, and that's gonna have to be it for a while.

Find someone to give me one...I promise to write a dandy article about it.. :D ;D ;)

Hi, Michael - Sorry a little late in answering your question, 'where in Florida.'  Jacksonville.  Member of Gateway Rifle & Pistol Club, one of the oldest and largest gun clubs in the state.  Having said that, wouldn't a tour of gunclubs around the nation make a great program idea for you.....the unique sites of our culture, fighting for their very existence?  Maybe, one or two shows per year...?
Thanks.

Another SIGforum transplant here.

The site looks great so far, Michael!  I'm looking forward to leaching as much of your expertise as possible.

Wow, what a great find, and howdy from the outback of Montana.

I was led here from the Pennsylvania Firearm Owners Association web site.  I enjoy the videos here and will be checking the site frequently.  I am from Erie, Pennsylvania and enjoy shooting just about any firearm, hunting, plinking, target, etc.... Glad to be on board.

Welcome, all!

My webmaster, the illustrious Marshal, says we'll have the GIVEAWAY Bruce Gray 1911 GSR up Monday; I'm also starting my video series on concealed carry Monday (I spent eh afternoon beta-testing my concepts with Walt Rauch, who's not afraid to tell me I'm full of it (when I'm full of it). I also selected the colors (blood red) for the Tac-Sol 10/22 super custom rifle that'll be our next GIVEAWAY.

I really want DOWN RANGE to be a viable community for shooters.

Thanks for signing up!
