Rather silly to me, but obviously very serious to the people on both sides.

I find the marching more "dancing" than tight, precision marching.


I wonder if they look upon our military's close order drills as dull and boring?

Funniest part is they've been doing it since 1959 but recently (2010) some a$$4at decided it was to harsh and called for the display "toned down." 

PC runs rampant, even in the Third World

Although they appeared pretty serious, I'd bet that the guys assigned to that duty are a) proud of it, and b) think its pretty entertaining.

I've traveled a lot overseas and I have noticed that what seem silly to us is quite serious to others.  I also know that they see some of our customs as silly.  I think this was pretty elaborate even for India.  At least they close there boarders.

Each culture/country has it's pride, honor, and traditions....Thankfully this "balance" has a handshake.

As far as the Brits? They are now moving legislation through Parliament, that will allow the .gov to have access to every citizen on the British Isle's email, web surfing habits, list of sites, and unencumbered access to your online life....

I watched the video again and thought of something.  I'd bet the whole deal started with one guy, bored, goofing off showboating to the gate one day.  The next day the other side doesn't want to be shown up, mirrors it, add a few more days and bored border guards and a tradition is born.  Now it's "just what we've always done."
