I notice the ambi safties.  Is this a single action only gun?

yep. single action only. a bit more play in the trigger than i like, but i like the lack of DA/SA transition. the safety and first shot single action is very nice. Thanks SIG!.

I would go with the P220 Compact.  I liked the P245, but the new compact has been improved for the larger hands..

I was the lucky winner of a Sig 220 Carry SAO 2 tone with Sig night sights. from the Sigarms web sight, I think the 220 Carry SAO is the best gun arounf. My son bought a Springfield 1911 A-1. He thinks the Sig qutshoots his 1911. There is less recoil and it is accurate. Don't ask me how there is less felt recoil, it is just a fact.

I agree Charles - I believe SIG has done their R&D when it comes to how & where you grasp the weapon in relation to your grip and your primary shooting arm.
