That's not out of the realm of possibility. I'm very fond of the 1911 platform, but the 1K Defender cost is a deterrent. Second choice was a Glock 36. Since I don't own a Glock yet, I may end up there.

Already have a 686 7 round, a model 60 snub and a Ruger GP 161.
A .45 bottom feeding carry gun is next on the list.
I got the blues as my companion.

Everyone should own a .357 wheel gun and a 1911.  There is a reason (actually, a whole bunch) they are classics.

Than skip the Kimber and buy a Commander frame 1911.  I'm a big guy and it hides real well, light enough to not bother you and still packs 8 in the mag and 1 in the pipe..

I see a few scratches on the frame and the newbie gouge where the slide lever scratches if you don't know how to put it in right.

Good point...there are a zillion commander sized guns- even the RI and it's less than $500. I would like to have a Colt though. Maybe I'll just go slow, keep thinking, keep watching for the right piece.
But I have these purchase permits that have a shelf life...
I got the blues as my companion.

The last comment I'll make is that the Commander has a full size frame and will take any mag made for a full size, uses the same followers, spring sets and just makes finding stuff easier!  But, you already know that...

I almost bought a Kimber pro carry ll for 1K plus  I  got a new Defender instead for $860.00 I'm very glad I bought the Defender instead.
