Between the two Jaybet mentions, I would go with the Colt Defender. My buddy had owned one for years and had the opportunity to shoot it. Very smooth compared to the Kimber, that I loved, I fired. The Defender has it hands down.

Now as for Solus, if I had $580, Glock 34 or 35 is the next Glock purchase for me.

I have a Colt LW Officers Model and use it as one of my primary ccw guns.  If you can find one it should be way under 1K.  Not quite as decked out as the Defender but better than some.  The LW seems to work better that the stainless or regular steel model.  I probably wouldn't use it for an entire SD class but 1/2 day or more and wouldn't worry about it breaking.

As things go, I started thinking about money and the weight of a 1911 and what the thing was really FOR, which is to carry when I am able. I ended up finding a good deal on a Springfield Armory XDS which saga is on another thread. But...I still think when the wife ain't looking and the coffer is fuller, the Defender will be it.
I got the blues as my companion.
