Torrence Brown Jr., one of the Aurora movie shooting survivors, is planning on suing the theater, confirmed his family's publicist on Wednesday. "We're going to make sure whoever is accountable is going to take responsibility for this tragedy," Cassandra Williams of Wet PR said. She said that Brown, who was friends with 18-year-old AJ Boik, one of the shooting victims, is handling the criticism his suit has sparked. "We know it goes with the territory, so he's fine," Williams said. She added that Brown, 18, is seeking therapy and is emotionally distraught after the shooting.

Brown's attorney Don Karpel told TMZ he plans to sue the Century 16 theater, which is owned by Cinemark, for having an exit door that was not equipped with an alarm or guarded. (Holmes reportedly left the theater through the exit door, propped it open and returned with his weapons.) Karpel also said he may sue Warner Bros for releasing violent movies that may have inspired the shooter, as well as the suspect's doctors, if he had any, for hypothetically not monitoring James Holmes' mental condition properly.

Probably because he intends to use the media to his advantage the way Fred Goldman did against OJ.
Sure it sounds sleazy, but if you plan to drive nails you should get yourself a hammer.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! He's going to sue over the violent movies that inspired the shooter??? The kid had died his hair like the Joker!  So this asshat who went to SEE the Batman movie is going to sue because they MADE the Batman movie. ONLY in the lawyer-rich environment of the USA.  I'd still like to see an open season on the law "profession".

Sheesh...

I thought it was just Tom and me who had "family publicists."

Now I discover this asshat has one, too.

I think suing the theater is a wonderful idea.
I think, however that he is taking the wrong approach by using the violent film angle.
He should concentrate on the chains denial of his right to defend himself by post "No Guns" stickers

I feel he should be able to sue all guilty parties, in this case that would be the shooter. No one else had any part in this crime, reguardless of how deep their pockets are!

Didn't you listen to Rahm Immanuel ?
"Never let a crisis go to waste".
Just as the leftists lept on this to renew their calls for discredited gun control laws we should use it as a tool to take back our rights and our nation by rubbing the countries nose in the fact that "gun free zones" place citizens at increased risk of murder.

Tom, if you sued using the argument that the gun free zone cuased this to happen/ you could not defend yourself.  You would lose, and lose very badly.  The fact that you knew about the no guns and disarmed willingly, is the death blow for the case.   the no gun policy is to protect the equipment.(among others but that is the big one)  There have been lots screens shot by patrons for what ever reason.   its not something you can just patch.   one idiot can litterly make a entire complex un profitable for weeks.

I know you will have all sorts of objections since you hold a "different" idea on the concept of self defense, I will probably ignore the rest of your posts on the subject.
But I thank you for giving me an excuse to expand on my thoughts.

The point you are missing is that knowing they did not allow guns is one thing.
Being aware that they provided no other security to compensate is another matter entirely.
The argument I would pursue would be that by posting the "No guns" sign the chain prevents law abiding citizens from protecting themselves, since it is their private property they therefore assume responsibility to provide a safe venue, the same as if you slipped on a wet floor.
