Teachers should NOT be allowed to carry in school. The very nature of a teacher is a detriment to the action which may be called for in an active shooter case.
There are plenty of qualified people such as retired police and veterans that would be glad to post up at a school, probably for free a few hours a day.
While I agree that most teachers should just lie down a get a bullet through the brain, there are a few who actually know how to think and might actually be entrusted to make a wise decision. It is those few who should actually be allowed to carry and to protect those young innocents placed in their care.
The
very nature of a teacher is to care for the young ones in their care. To allow them to be sacrificed to a nut-case is to abrogate that duty.
And just to give additional dimension to my response, I am the son of a college professor and an elementary school teacher. My sister is a recently retired elementary school teacher. I have been involved in adult education for many years. I am no stranger to the education system. And it would break my heart to know one of my students had died because I left my Glock in the nightstand drawer.
2How, give a little more thought to real life before you embarrass yourself by making unsupportable comments. And to intimate that a non-compensated veteran or retired cop would be sufficient to counter all the evil in this world is evidence that you are living in some sort of la-la land.
Grow a pair and realize teachers are not expendable commodities that should willingly lay down and die.
