Emanuel To Banks: Stop Supporting Gun Makers
« on: January 25, 2013, 07:13:09 PM »
I know that B of A made a move on American Spirit Arms loan a couple of weeks ago. However, I find the below article chilling. This IS tyranny when the governing class pressures one private business to restrict the lawful actions of another private business.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is putting more pressure on gun makers to get behind his push for an assault weapons ban and criminal background checks for gun purchasers.

This time, he wants to go after their bottom line.

Emanuel is pushing two major financial institutions to stop their financial backing of gun makers, unless those companies support “commonsense reforms, including requiring criminal background checks on all gun sales.”

The mayor is urging that banks to stop lines of credit, financing for acquisitions and expansions and financial advising.

In a letter sent Friday to the CEOs of Bank Of America and TD Bank, Emanuel said: “In the past, the gun industry has stood in opposition to these safety measures. They opposed a ban on assault weapons on America’s streets, opposed a ban on military-style clips, opposed a criminal background check on all gun purchases and opposed any effort to crack down on criminal gun traffickers.”
"Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it and then misapplying the wrong remedies." (Groucho Marx)

What next?  Stop lending money to Republicans?

Of course the banks would balk at that as they are the only one that repay their loans.

I think Shitcago needs the banks more than the banks need Shitcago.

Since the credit downgrade of Ill. The citizens of such an illustrious Liberal Nirvana will be hit with an additional 95 MILLION Dollars in interest pmts.

Good Call!!!!!

There are plenty of pro-gun regional/local banks and credit unions that would be more than happy to handle gun manufacturers accounts.

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

I'm sure many of the small banks that work for profit instead of the "progressive" agenda would be happy to take over the business of a $2 BILLION  a year industry .

Let's see, here...

Capitalism:  Citizens own and run businesses for benefit to themselves and investors.

No, that's not it.

Communism:  State owns and runs everything for the benefit of the State.

No, that's not it.

Socialism:  State owns, but citizens run everything for the benefit of the State.

No, that's not it.

Fascism:  Citizens own and run, but State dictates exactly how citizens will run business...

Yeah, that's the ticket. Fascism.

Welcome to Nazi Germany, my brothers.  Turn in your weapons over there, then come back and get your gold star over here.

I weep for my nation.

Hi;

can the NRA establish some sort of banking instituion itself ? Like that of a Credit Union where people buy shares  or  CD  and just let it sit there for a 3-5 year period with some interest ? this could be a good thing for the gun manufactures and the average gun owner.

the NRA maybe a not for profit corporation, but they have the contacts with capable people to set this up and get it rolling.

If george Soros can pull strings - what about the NRA.

Most everyone including gun makers will move out of these anti-gun states and cities and take the law-abiding with them. And then these anti-gun cities and states will really have income problems especially if all the banks move out also.
