A friend of mine does a trick that works about the same, with a piece of heavy twine. Tie it to the bolt handle of an ak47, loop it around the trigger guard and trigger and then tie it to the rear sling mount. Now take up the slack on the twine until the trigger is pulled, everytime the bolt slams home, it pulls the trigger. You have to work at getting the twine length right so your hand does not have to come very far off the stock, but it does allow for a proper cheek weld.
Have you ever seen John Brownings full auto lever action, works on the same principle. No I'm not making this up, I don't know that he ever built one, but he sure did draw it up.
