Talk about a catch 22!  Just like getting set up to be either sexist or bigoted for not voting for the Dem. candidate (depending on which one we face), now we either admit our guns are a threat or we willingly endanger Mr. McCain.

How about someone, hint Mr. McCain, show some leadership and tell the "SS" to to back off and deal with it in a different way.  I don't know how they should deal with it, but aren't they the best at what they do?  SHOW  IT !!!
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

As a holder of a concealed carry permit I resent this intrusion on my rights. If I were a Secret Service agent however, I would DEFINATLY want to be the only one armed in a given location.

Update from the NRA....

Dear Fellow NRA Member,

As a ticket holder for the NRA's Celebration of American Values Leadership Forum, we wanted to alert you to this important OFFICIAL NOTICE:

By mandate of the U. S. Secret Service, no firearms will be allowed in Hall A of the Kentucky Exposition Center, the location of the Celebration of American Values Leadership Forum, on Friday, May 16.

Please be prepared to go through security screening to enter the venue. We look forward to seeing you at this outstanding event!

I'm thinking I'll not attend this session now. Perhaps after I get there I might change my mind. I really wanted to hear the other speakers.

Maybe Bane will move his drinking venue up to 12:30 P.M. and make an afternoon of it.

I would vote for McCain if he walked up before his speech and calmly removed the ballistic shields from next to the podium while saying
" Folks, I don't need these here to talk to the members of the NRA".

They're using ballistic shields now? At an NRA convention? That would be fairly bad for PR I would think. Just hazarding a guess that you're talking about the teleprompter's on either side of the podium and good luck taking that away from any politiician.   ::)

Is this the kind of thing you're thinking of?

Your point still holds though. It would be hilarious if he got rid of the teleprompters and said he didn't need em... I'd be more likely to trust what he was saying was his own opinion and not just reading a script to get elected.

Teleprompters and speach writers are a waste of time, and money. If the current crop of corrupt, self indulgent elitist, Mo&$%# Fu%@>r's we currently call politicians are not going to use THEIR OWN WORDS, the should plagerize speeches that have worked in the past.

I bet you're aren't the only one... if I didn't work with them frequently I would have thought the same thing.
