You need to ask:  Who will obtain a gun where they will be registered.

Only the dumbest bad guys.

The mentally disturbed might if their affliction clouds their logical thinking.

Just like outlawing guns will only keep them out of the hands of honest citizens, registering them will only make a list of guns owned by honest citizens.  (at least if BIDS is used instead of NICS, no list will be made)

With the current fervor over keeping guns out of the hands of mentally disturbed, and this is favored by portions of the firearms community, this might not be the time that repealing all registration will be feasible.  How effective it will be at stopping the mentally disturbed from obtaining firearms is doubtful, but it will still get the list of honest gun owners

If we were to do that, what exactly would happen?   I am not one to scream, the sky would fall and there would be blood in the streets, but I still have to wonder, what would happen.

Crime would continue to drop, gun and ammo prices would drop slightly while M1 Garand, M 1  carbine and machine gun prices would plummet.
Availability of machine guns would lead to a rise in shooting sports, which would drive a demand for more ranges.

If gun control worked Chicago, NY, and Washington would be as peaceful as Mayberry.

i am not so sure.   machine gun prices would fall like a rock, and there would be alot of cool things that could now be made/bought, but what else?   i doubt there would be a crime wave, but I would say there would be more crimals buying guns., legally.

They would not be buying them legally, just through legal channels.

Question is:  Would more firearms end up in criminal hands if they were bought through legal channels than through illegal channels.

My answer would be that most any criminal who wants a gun now can obtain one, so I don't think lack of registration would have much effect on criminals....but it would eliminate the hassle for law abiding citizens.

Probably about the same that happened in 1967. Absolutely nothing that wouldn't have happened anyway. And if we were to repeal the NFA of 1934, I'd say the same thing. At least we can undo Reagan's gun control bill of 1986 and let us purchase modern FAs even if I have to buy the stamp.

I think the big fight will be in stopping passing of "Universal Background Checks" and limited capacity in magazines.

Those are one's most likely to pass.

We stop that then do an all out push for repealing the other laws.

Wrong! We must push right now and put the anti-gunners on the defensive. Stop with the we'll-accept-less thinking. Go on the offensive and show the Democrats we mean business. Make them scared for a change.

Let's try it and find out, shall we? Messy, sloppy freedom is much preferred - to some of us, anyhow - than the neatness and order of tyranny!   >:(
