I'm reporting that my box still is not here. My SR9 has now been recalled for 2 times longer than I was able to use it.
I officially admit that I'm whining. Boo hoo, dammit! I want to shoot my SR9!
Thanks Ruger! You can bet that I'm gonna run right out and buy the next slick lookin' gun you come out with.

Rumor has it they will be sending out our boxes mid-June and will ship guns later in the month.  Just rumor at this point and I would not be surprised to see that date move a little.  While I want to see it done once and done right, I think they are disappointing their customers with their inability to get the retrofits done quicker.

On the other hand, if they had been able to turn a retrofit in an inordinately short period of time it would lead one to think that they may have released a gun with a known/suspected problem and had anticipated a recall.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Honestly I wish they'd buy mine back. I'll even eat the tax. There are too many good guns out there to be sitting around with your thumb up your butt waiting to use something that 's brand new. I just haven't had very good luck with Ruger, contrary to their reputation.

Still have my SR9.

Still carry it every day.

Just used it at an IDPA Classifier a week or so ago.

I carry with the safety on all the time, and only take it off when I'm about to shoot, about to clean, or about to otherwise break the gun down.

Whenever I finally get my recall box, I'll send it in.  Until then, I'll rely on the safety between my ears and not fret about any 'drop' safety.

Hmmm... I wouldn't do that. If there's ever an accident of any kind, YOU will be considered the schmuck that was carrying around the "defective" (read "dangerously dangerous") firearm. It's your decision, after all Ruger says that "some" of the guns "may" discharge if dropped, but if anything every happens no matter how innocent or strange....it's all gonna be on you. Because Ruger also says, "Do not load or fire your SR9 until corrected".

Here is the last bit of the recall warning:

"Do not load or fire your pistol until it has been factory retrofitted with these new parts! If you must fire your pistol, be sure to keep the manual safety in the "on" or "safe" position except when you are actually firing."

I personally still wouldn't carry it simply b/c of legal responsibilities. When ever you carry a gun in a lawsuit happy society such as ours, you need to do everything you can to reduce any and all possibilities of leaving yourself open to being sued.

true i mean carrying a gun today is a big enough responsibility, why take more hassel and stress with a weapon that may or may not work propertly?  if it goes off when it falls it could go off if you fall and land on it, just a thought
