Just A Proud Papa
« on: September 20, 2013, 02:25:09 PM »
My old Sig Pro2022, just rolled past 8K rounds with no springs, parts or repairs.
I love this gun!  It's just a nice feeling.

I got the blues as my companion.

Still looks like new.
How well does it shoot the LSWC ?  Friend of mine in San Antonio has one and loves it. But he get's a lot of lead in the bore, I think his handloads are a little on the HOT side. He is known to run the max on most of his loads.

His theory is speed kills, more speed kills more better.  ;D
I keep telling him lead is for practice and jacketed is for tangos and glock barrels.

Isn't it about time for a new recoil spring Jay? Some people would have changed them twice by now. I would have only done it once.

At this point it's kindof a scientific experiment.

Gotcha. I kind of did that with my first Sig. When I researched the spring change interval, I found I was about 3-4k overdue.
Family member ran a Beretta 9mm for 1k+ rds out of the box without even cleaning or oiling it just to see if it would do it. It did.

Always thought that Sig's were fine guns..... shot many.... never owned one..... would love an older P220.

As a side note:
I guess I got a scientific 'speriment of my own going.  ;D

I have a Ser. 70 Colt Gov't Model in .45 ACP with twenty-four year old Wolff springs. It was made in the early 70's, and I bought it when I turned twenty-one. I put all new springs in it then, and have not changed them yet. For the first six years I owned it, it was my Bullseye Competition gun for centerfire stages. I ran 400/500 rounds per month for six years and then tapered off. It has to have had at least 40k rounds through it in those twenty-four years and it still shoots well.
From a bench-rest with custom-rolled ammo (200gr lead SWC with 5.0 grs of Accurate #5), it'll shoot single-ragged-hole groups.
Of course, I do not depend on this gun for SD, but I would not hesitate to call on it if pushed into it.

Did I ever mention that I love my 1911's?  :D

Who doesn't Peg?  I just think this Sig is cool because it never really caught on but it's a real solid piece.

Looks like a comfy gun to shoot.

I have a Ser. 70 Colt Gov't Model in .45 ACP with twenty-four year old Wolff springs.

I too bought a Series 70 back in 71.  No where near your round count, but love the gun.  I've shot several different sights off the gun, literally.

Paid $190 for mine.  Thought it would bankrupt me, back in 71.

Will work for ammo
