I have an invitation to the private party...should I go???????????

Michael B

Yes, and take LOTS of pictures. :D

On a more serious note, I'm ok with him entering the biz, because if there's even a chance that he'll make firearms ownership as cool and/or mainstream as motorcycle ownership is now (where bank VP's get Harleys for retirement gifts), it will be a good thing for the rest of us.

The trouble is, given his nature and business history, I can't see him lasting long in the world of red tape that is being an FFL. I say two years and he's out. It'll be two years of guns (and women) with some amazing bolt-on accessories, but two years nevertheless.
I can't understand people who think banning guns makes them safer. They must also believe that banning books makes them smarter.

It can't hurt. Just steer clear of the women. I'd hate to visualize the type that will attend his "Private Parties"!   ;D

Good point that more high profile gun stuff is good, unless he's going to crash and burn, then that gun stuff is not so good.
Sandra Bullock...annoying i suppose, but ten years ago I could have spent, oh...about 45 minutes with her.

MB, you should go if you have the time. Since the profile is high and probably "Hollywood Sleazy" there might be someone there that doesn't normally travel in your circles. Someone who may be helpful to you in your projects.

I'm not sure that another company making fancy ARs or 1911s is going to make a difference or even a splash, but I'm going to take a "wait and see" attitude.

Go, have some shrimp cocktail, rub elbows with semi-famous people.  It'll be a hoot!

From JJFU.com

<snip>

"With JJFU, James hopes to create a brand of firearms that will revolutionize the gun world just as his custom choppers did the motorcycle world."

Really?  What's revolutionary about a 100 year old gun design and AR rifles?

He's an old school tin knocker for sure but how can you further revolutionize something that's been around longer than he's been alive?

Have fun Michael but make sure you delouse afterwards.....he was married to a porn star once upon a time...

You have to go, see what he brings to the table! Then report back.
“As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people.  On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and a complete narcissistic moron.”  H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun,  July 26, 1920.

Go, MB.

JJ has a big ego, but many times (personal life aside) he can back it up....at least as far as being a true craftsman and fabricator. I give him props for wanting to learn blacksmithing the old way, so he went to Israel to learn from an old-school craftsman there.

Could be interesting.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

I think that Jessie is like many people we see and do not know.  There is the public persona that is huge, there is a personal life that we may or may not approve of, and deep inside there can be a very genuine person that shows from time to time.  I think that Jessie has some good qualities that show from time to time, and that he does strive for often.  However, if you have heard some of his upbringing you can understand how he got where he is.  On the surface, Jessie James is a selfish jerk who has hurt many.  Is is a true artist and craftsman.  He also begs for the strength of a loving family and personal relationships that he has seldom had.  Sadly, our society loves to see the turmoil, and we reward him for that rather than for the good choices he makes.

Off my soap box, or out from behind the pulpit, for now.

JJ started out as a pretty nice guy (at least that was the impression from his earliest shows) prior to the need to feed the star image. I feel sorry for folks like him that make it bigger than they are ready for and then end up losing their way trying to stay on top. Looks like selling your soul from where I sit.

I seem to remember him stating that he pulled the plug on Monster Garage and the other shows he was on because he didn't like being a celebrity and just wanted to build bikes.  To be fair, the paparazzi are the ones who kept him in the limelight, especially when he married a movie star and got busted running around.  For the most part, he always seemed to be respectful to all of the regular joes on his shows and treat them how they deserved to be treated.  He seemed to be a pretty nice guy, unless you're married to him.

On the plus side, it's refreshing to see that a blue collar gearhead/fabricator can become a celebrity every now and then.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

"We Americans have been a rebellious band of freedom loving vagabonds from the very beginning. Our freedom from the crown and tyranny would not exist had it not been for the gun. That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.
