Gunshow Regrets?
« on: May 28, 2008, 08:39:14 AM »
So, I'm gonna try to go to the gunshow in Charlotte this weekend. And as I think about it and other gunshows I remember guns that I wish I could have got .......or good deals I missed out on. About two years ago, I distinctly remember a Sig Pro 9mm.. brand new..with night sights that I almost bought for $369.00. Later I wished that I had not of passed it up. Anyway how about ya'll? Anyone else have a gunshow story of a gun they should have bought and later wished they had?...

I wish I had bought about a dozen Marlin Camp 45 rifles at $260 each, and a dozen Rossi model 92 Leverguns at $200 each then waited till now and resold them. 20 ga. Saiga for $199 (I was broke at the time). I know there's more, but I can't think of them at the moment.

I can't think of any that I regret passing up, but I can think of two things that I wish I hadn't bought.

In a fit of cowboy nostalgia at one local gun show, I bought a single action Herritage, Rough Rider, .22/.22 magnum revolver with interchangable cylinders.  What a major Papa Oscar Sierra!!!!!!  I sent it back to Heritage twice but they could not make it work correctly.  I finally used it as trading material and dumped it on some poor unsuspecting soul.

The other was when I was fairly new into semi-auto rifles in the fun-filled days leading up to Y-2-K.  Ahhh, those were the days!  But I digress.

At a gun show I was interested in buying up as much ammo as I could for a Mini-14 that I had picked up at the beginning of the 1st Clinton Assault Weapon Ban.  I bought a bunch of ammo in order to fight off the rioting hords who would be swarming out of Portland to steal my food.  I needed 30+ round magazines, and one vendor there had a whole bunch, really cheap.  Cool!  You know that old saying; "You get what you pay for."?  Yup.  Its true.

Anybody want to buy a gasoline generator.  Hardly ever used.  Cheap!  Only 8 1/2 years old.

Hey Hawkfish, and forum, the Charlotte Gun Show, back when I lived there, was at the Metrolina Fairgrounds, and in 1994-5, a dealer had brand new 1894-1994, 100 year Anniversary Winchester 30-30 Lever actions for right around $200.00. "Gun Show Special". Didn't get one or two. :-[

S&W Model 19, dirt cheap.

And the BIG one, Thompson "Very slightly used", Tommy Gun .45 ACP $350.00. with 2 drum mags. :'(

Last Tommy Gun I saw used was right at $1000.00 :-\

Ammo was cheaper, ammo was much cheaper, ammo was WAY LESS. :(

Hawkfish- this isn't a gun show sad story...but since you bring up the Sig Pro 9- I did the RIGHT thing when I bought mine almost 2 years ago. It's been flawless with about 5000 rounds through it. It just likes to be cleaned and it's your best friend.

only regret from a gun show was buying that glock... sold it at the next  show I went too.

I've never really found any great deals at gun shows.  Always seems to be lots of crap, some rebuildable junk and some over priced stuff.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.
