TSA Precheck is cool!
« on: December 04, 2013, 05:19:43 PM »
Not sure I would pay the annual fee for the service, but on the free random ones they give out I like it!

No removing of shoes, belt, or puter from its bag.  Line is much shorter than regular.  This is great!

From the time I walked through the front door until I was sitting at the gate was only 15 minutes, and that includes me giving myself the TSA pat down to avoid cavity searches.

TT, please crank up the heat and open the windows.  It is 77 down here, I'm not sure I am ready for the rapid change ... and my hat and jacket are in the pick up in the parking ramp.  At least I'm parked in the ramp, so I don't need to clean it off when I get there.

We made sure to turn on the AC for you.  We've got it down to about 3 degrees with -15 windchill or so here in the cities.  Tomorrow is supposed to be a bit nipply.  I might even have to dig around the closet and find my jacket.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

My flights were all on time and went well.  For any of you who have not flown into the northern region during less than ideal weather I highly recommend it.  There is no screeching wheels when they hit the runway - It is just a nice quiet thump, and then the rapid course corrections start.  More than once I've had a fun pilot, and last night was one of them, and when you get off the runway and are taxiing around they come on the intercom with some comment about that being fun, that was an "E" ticket ride, or last night's comment "I don't know about all you back there, but I want to go around and do that one again!"  This guy was obviously the kind that turned to the co-pilot and asked him to hold the beer while he slid it in.

The drive home wasn't too bad, visibility was about an eighth mile most of the time, the roads were glazed, but I didn't have to deal with too many other drivers most of the way.

By 4:30 the suitcase was laying in the entry way, where it still is; puppy dog is in, the women in my life have differing opinions and puppy spent most of my absence in her kennel in the cold garage; and the stove is lit again, so my area is toasty warm.

Now back to reality  :'(

By the way, this was a working trip where I had major responsibilities, so there wasn't much relaxation even in the room.  Always with somebody or getting ready for the next thing.  Hate it when work gets in the way!

Instead the screeching and screaming come from the flight crew who actually KNOW how close you came to skidding off the runway and crashing.

Hey, M58, wasn't it near you where the flight attendant said "F*ck you all"grabbed a six pack and went down the escape slide.
And that was in the summer.

Last time we flew into San Fran and we ALL stood on the brakes, the cockpit announced that, "We have a birthday on board today...90 years old!!! First time flyer too!!! So when you exit the plane please wish the pilot a happy birthday".

I had a memorable landing in Cleveland!  It was -- something degrees and I only had a light windbreaker to wear.  After a verrrrrry bumpy landing (washboard was smooth in comparison!) we bumped and jolted to near a gate.  Had to walk down the steps and out into the cold.  No heated tunnel for us.  The first thing I got from my parents when we met was a scarf, heavy sweater, hat, coat and gloves!  It was so cold the thermostat was frozen in the van and dad had to wipe the inside of the windshield with an antifreeze soaked cloth just to be able to see.  It was an interesting hour+ ride home to say the least.

PS:  It was 60 at 5:30 AM this morning in Ohio but supposed to get colder!

Nobody ever had to scrape sunshine from off a windshield.

Alf,

Is rain the only weather you get?  It was raining when we went through on the way down Monday and raining when we came back on Wednesday.

No be ever had to scrape sunshine from off a windshield.

Unless Sunshine wasn't wearing her seatbelt.

I'll just go sit in the corner.

I for the "Trusted Traveler" number this year when I was flying between MSP and Raleigh every week. It was great to zoom through TSA especially in MSP. Mine also works for US Customs. I don't have to go through the Customs Agent. I can swipe my passport and Global Traveler card at a kiosk and bypass all lines.
