DirectTV shows that specific time slot as a complete blank - the only show in the lineup to be shown that way. Wonder why, I can't even program the box to flip over to it.

I wish that they would really STOP showing these types of moves . It's not that I don't like them it's just that I being a marine vet live with it every day knowing that my brothers & sisters are dieing every day for us.... I will never forget them!!!!!!!!!!! nor will I ever let my guard down.. I don't think watching them die makes for a good movie!!!!

Keith, let me take a crack at this. First, thank you for your service. Tough stuff being a Marine and God bless you.

If you and I were walking down a crowded shopping mall in this country, how many people would you see who had worn a helmet, boots and body armor? Damned few I'll bet. Most don't even know anyone in the military. Would you agree so far?

We have a civilian population more concerned with big houses, trophy spouses, liposuction and interest rates than the valiant actions of the men and women who provide the level of safety and security they unconsciously take for granted.

My son and I went to see "Saving Private Ryan" when it first came out. During the first few minutes, while the landing was going on and heavy combat was depicted, I noticed several people watching had faces of horror, like they had never imagined what they were so graphically experiencing. When the film ended and we were walking out into daylight, there were a lot of very somber faces on the now exhausted audience. They NEVER knew.. until that movie.

With some people, it takes a war, a life or death struggle, to teach the value of peace, honor and all the responsibilities that go with it. Sometimes, it might just take a movie. Let them see what you did. Perhaps it will inspire them to lead good lives.
Mac.

Earn this.
The person who has nothing for which his is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Keith.. DDMack said it all.
I watched this clip with sadness and horror also.. but as I did, I hoped that all those that think our military is a "walk in the park" will watch and maybe change how they think and become more respectful of our military men. That is why I think movies or documentary's such as this is very important.

I hope you get the respect you deserve and I want you to know that there are a whole lot of us out there who humbly honor you and all those who serve our great nation.

When the film ended and we were walking out into daylight, there were a lot of very somber faces on the now exhausted audience. They NEVER knew.. until that movie.

I too saw that movie when it came out, and never being in a combat situation, was horrified at the depiction of full blown "War" at that level. Understanding it was still just a movie, I had a "reverence" and awakening. I have seen the videos of troops in Baghdad, lost a close friend of mine there as well. Nothing will compare in a civilians life with those that have had to endure that environment.

BUT, it does reinforce the need to support our troops. My Uncle Otto, a Vietnam Veteran, walked out of the movie Hamburger Hill and was somber and pissed the rest of the day. Didn't want to talk about it, and just said it was a bad idea. Those scars run deeper than I'll ever know, but my regard for those Americans who did their duty will never falter.

Thank you keith and God Bless
