Yeah, that's about it, especially the "expires in May" crap.

But, the hardier of us (i.e., most of us) put on our arctic-grade Carhartt's and get the job done!

Only two seasons:

Winter

4th of July

That's it.... ;)
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

We used to say 40 below keeps the rif-raff out, but that kinda changed when we started really tapping the Bakken formation for oil

She makes a couple interesting points.  ;D
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

Reminds me of my 38 years I spend in Chicago. Midwest weather is like a bad marriage, you don't realize just how bad it is until you get out of it. Overcast for days on end. Constant drizzle and rain. The wind blows all the time. 90 day "Summers", June, July, and August, and half of that time it's either raining or threatening to, give way to a 9 month Winter.

In the "Summer" Mosquitoes eat you alive to the point you cannot remain outside after dark even if the weather is nice. If your lucky your car will last 5 years before cancer eats through it from the road salt every winter. And forget trying to keep it clean. Anything on the undercarriage, muffler, shocks, etc. has to be air chiseled or torched off after one Chicago winter. Property taxes are off the chart for even a modest home because of all of the democratic unions and give away programs for the minorities. In spite of the high taxes the state is still broke, much like it's neighbor to the north Wisconsin is. People are running from the rust belt. It used to be you could always find a good paying job no matter what. That is no longer the case as manufacturing has fled these states, and the country in general. The entire Midwest region is on the brink. It's just a matter of time before the entire region collapses just like Detroit and northern Indiana has.   Bill T.

We don't use salt.  It has no affect below -20

Sky Watching The ISS
« Reply #1859 on: March 10, 2011, 06:10:21 AM »
I've been doing this lately, and it's amazing to watch this thing. It is one of the brightest objects in the sky, exceeded in brightness only by Jupiter and the Moon. If you go to this website and punch in your Zip Code, it will give you the local times and direction to look for it.

http://spaceweather.com/flybys/

It will always appear exactly on time, every time, in the exact place in the sky they say. This website will also give the times and locations of other satellites that you can observe. It's hard to believe it's traveling 17,500 M.P.H., or 5 miles per second.

I don't have a fancy tracking telescope or anything like that, but if you have a good set of binoculars and a fairly steady hand you can actually see the solar arrays extended out from it's side as it gets nearest to you. They are over a football field long. We're blessed with clear skies most of the time here in Arizona, so it's not to hard to see it. You have quite a long time to observe it, usually around 3 minutes or so.  Bill T.
