Reminds me of my 38 years I spend in Chicago. Midwest weather is like a bad marriage, you don't realize just how bad it is until you get out of it. Overcast for days on end. Constant drizzle and rain. The wind blows all the time. 90 day "Summers", June, July, and August, and half of that time it's either raining or threatening to, give way to a 9 month Winter.
In the "Summer" Mosquitoes eat you alive to the point you cannot remain outside after dark even if the weather is nice. If your lucky your car will last 5 years before cancer eats through it from the road salt every winter. And forget trying to keep it clean. Anything on the undercarriage, muffler, shocks, etc. has to be air chiseled or torched off after one Chicago winter. Property taxes are off the chart for even a modest home because of all of the democratic unions and give away programs for the minorities. In spite of the high taxes the state is still broke, much like it's neighbor to the north Wisconsin is. People are running from the rust belt. It used to be you could always find a good paying job no matter what. That is no longer the case as manufacturing has fled these states, and the country in general. The entire Midwest region is on the brink. It's just a matter of time before the entire region collapses just like Detroit and northern Indiana has. Bill T.
