Christmas CZ
« on: November 17, 2014, 04:46:57 PM »
I did it!  Talked to Maggie incessantly about the Christmas pistol until she was just going, "Uh-huh, right hon....yep, whatever". Just bought a CZ 2075 Rami 9mm on Gunbroker. Hopefully the NJ cops don't find any reason to deny my pistol permit.
Yea...a pistol permit for every handgun, AND, you fill out the same stuff you fill out to get your firearms ID card. Same questionnaire, mental health check, and background check, just no fingerprints.
Personally I'm always a little worried about the whole mental health thingy.

Congratulations.   Hope all the paper work clears and you do get it by Christmas.

I wouldn't worry about your mental health.   What do the voices say?

Careful there Jay.
Sometimes "Do whatever the hell you want" doesn't mean quite what you hope .  ;D

You're right, Tom, but I've been with her around 36 years. I think I've got this.

You could always use us as references.
We'll be glad to tell them you're one of the less psychotic people here!  ;D

Keep going with the new guns and we'll have to change your name from jaybet to LuckyDog.

Dude, you are such a good friend, I don't know how to repay you. I'll think about it.
Actually part of the reason I was able to do the "Christmas Pistol" thing is because I already built her a "Christmas Black Rifle". We tested it and are breaking it in, so I'm hoping I can do the same with the pistol before Christmas. Can't just box it up and hope.

She'll be happy to get the message (or reply as it were).

Christmas came early for the old guitar slinger:

Picked this CZ Rami up from my gunsmith friday evening, played with it, field stripped, wiped her down with CLP and slopped up the rails a little. Then today I took it to the range. It ran 150  rounds of 9mm  ball without any incidents and it is pretty damned accurate. I think some of that is the weight (it's all metal and stays on target) and some is the low position of the barrel, as the slide is set down inside the frame instead of up top over the outside.

3" SS barrel, 1/10 and 1/14 rd mag, single/double action and a thumb safety just in case, it feels a lot like a little 1911 but with a wider grip. Pictured is the 10 rd mag, which causes the arthritic pinky finger to dangle while shooting. I shoot it much better with the 14 rd where I can get a good, solid grip. Another nice feature are the rubber grips...they're RUBBERY rubber, not bakelite type rubber, sticky, and really give a good grip on the gun. I was thinking about custom grips, but I don't think I'll even bother. These grips are very nice.
The only mild complaint is with the trigger. There's a bit of takeup in it, but I got used to it quickly. The other thing is , the trigger itself has quite a hook to it, and I found my trigger finger getting a  little sore from the bottom edge of the trigger. Not a big deal though, I've had similar things happen with Glock and SR triggers.

I have been oogling these things for about 5 years and I'm very happy that I finally "pulled the trigger" on the RAMI. It's a really nice gun.

That's a good looking gun Jay. I have a soft spot for small pistols.
