The only bright side I see to this is that this is one more event that will help to bring out conservatives to the polls.

I thought we had enough before this happened. It does, however, increase the need to educate more conservatives about the importance of this upcoming election. While I was thinking this election might be a chance to increase the conservative margin in the court it now s a must win just to maintain the narrow margin. Not to mention Ginsberg and other aging Justices. The next president will impact the country for decades to come.
The time for action is upon us and the enemy is at our gates. Let us not allow them one more inch of advancement but instead throw them through the gates of Hell.

This is my biggest fear. Not what Obama will do, but what the Republicans won't. Thus far Paul Ryan is another gutless joke, just like Boehner, only without the tears. Ryan caved to most everything Obama wanted. He better not this time.

Ryan can go pound sand. He has nothing to do with confirming a Supreme Court Justice. This fight is between the Senate and the White house.
I am a member of my nation's chosen soldiery.
God grant that I may not be found wanting,
that I will not fail this sacred trust.

I've heard that the next President will appoint as many as 3 Justices.

That is what I have been reading as well Bill.  Prior to this weekends events they were talking two and possibly three, now I am hearing most likely three with a slim chance of only two.

Frankly, I'm confused about what the republicans have said...that no matter who Obama nominates they will not approve them. It doesn't make any sense to me, as those kinds of statements give the left and the media (same thing) ammo. Huge asshat talking points against the obstructionist right.
In my mind it would have been better to state that Obama had better nominate someone in the mold of Scalia, or they will not be approved.
If they said that, then they could gleefully smack down his douchebag nominations like Holder, Loretta Lynch, his wife, or any other bonehead progressive he comes up with. If he actually came up with someone good, which I seriously doubt, they could approve them and look like heroes.
I just don't get it.

Jay, They don't want to be bothered with the fight while they are busy with the campaign. Frankly, considering how poor the Dem field is I would be surprised if Obama was willing to generate any more hatred toward himself and his party.

It's pretty simple. It's total political war this time. Neither side can give in. If Obama does, and appoints someone "just like Scalia", (which he'll NEVER do), the court remains the same, with a slight conservative advantage. If Obama appoints another Kagen or Sotomayor, (which he almost for sure WILL DO), it shifts the Supreme Court to a liberal advantage.

The stage is set, and everyone who hasn't been living in a cave for the last 40 years knows and accepts what is on the line this time..... Namely the entire country.  Let the name calling and accusations begin. None of it matters. Trump is right yet again. The Republicans have to DELAY, DELAY, DELAY. It really is just that simple.

Then pray to God a Republican gets in this November. If it's Hillary or Sanders, forget the country as you now know it. It will be gone forever.
